If I get turned into a zombie, I'm not just going to wander around moaning... I'm definitely going to sing "Re: Your Brains" by Jonathan Coulton |

Oh... I'd think I'd do VERY well in case the undead decide to visit for some noggin munchin'. In fact, they'd be in for one HELL of a surprise, if you ask me. But stay away from Vermont in the event of a zombie apocalypse- those dern hippies out there will probably try to smoke a peace pipe with them or something. HAHAHAHA!!! High Zombies? "Braiiinns...no wait... doriiiiitoooss.... and mountain deeeew.... MUNCHIIIIIIES!" |

Would you survive?
Hellz yeah I would! Maine would be the best place to be! More guns than people, so few people, the infection would spread slowly, the zombies would freeze in winter, I have a sword, my dad has a machete, I can grow my own food... yup, I think I'm set. How bout you guys? Any of you read "World War Z" or just considered what you would do in case of a zombie invasion? |

it the ways of the country people we are all killers and if we weren't everyone would die, cause ya gotta kill the plant. if you pull or pick it, right. I don't eat anything that is alive at least not that I know of Coming from Maine, I have more than one reason to eat meat. Meat is more redily available than vegan food (and much less expensive), some people actually do hunt so that they can suppliment their diet, and when I think of meat, I think of something that lived a reasonably good life, and died for a purpose, not something "factory" made. But, to each his own. Plus... it's delicious... I love venison tacos... |

The weekend before Easter of last year, I was talking to an Ethiopian cab driver in D.C. He was giving me a ride home after a night on the town. He said that him and his family's tradition was to go up to this farm in rural Maryland where you pay for a lamb and then slaughter it yourself. I'm not sure of the method of slaughtering it. Maybe an axe, sledgehammer? This sounds interesting to me. I wonder how much it costs and what is the method of slaughter. I don't have a clue. We just sent our pig to the butchers... I remember I was 5, and I was scared of that pig... hahaha... Good times. |

So, I was in the cafeteria, and I wanted a slice of pizza, but the line for the "pasta station" was cutting me off from getting to the pizza.
I asked this guy "Hey, can you let me get to the pepperoni?" "Psht, no, do you know how much energy we waste producing meat?" I stare at him. "You do know you have to KILL something to get meat?" "Yeah, sure, I raised my own pig once!" "And you killed it?!" "Yup." "What was its name?" "Wilbur*" *Those of you who have not read or seen Charlottes web may not get this. But this was a real conversation, and yes, I really did have a pig. I got it in a pig scramble at the county fair one year. That's how much of a hick I really am. I am bad@ss. |

Matchmaking Game - part 24

I remember hearing stories of MDI schools being closed because with wind chill, it was -30. For this southerner... I cannot fathom that. Haha! When I went home for winter break, it was -20 without windchill!! I remember having to go out at 6 am with -20 temp and having a lot of wind and wait for the bus. I think I may have worn ski goggles a couple of times, just to bundle up more EXACTLY!!!! Thus I consider Freeport or Portland, Maine.. You might like Belfast or Searsport, or maybe Islesboro (that one makes a good day trip) They're all on the coast, so they're pretty warm, but they're also smaller and friendlier. Also, there's a really nice thai food restaurant between Belfast and Searsport... it's small, but I love it. |
