I never get checked out and I don't check out. Man! What a boring life. Ditto, but I do check out. 
 But you probably do it elegantly.

Now heres what I like, and have had happen several times. 
Your walking down the street, and up ahead of you, you see someone who looks really good coming towards you, as they get closer, your heart starts pounding, and you realize they are F'N FINE, you try not to look at him but you cant help it, he leers back at you, you pass, and maybe say "hi" or just smile... 
then you turn around to check them out from the back, and they are turned around checking you out from the back, so you both quickly look forward again, just to be caught looking back again.
At this point, I usually just walk up to him and say, "Hi, im Roberta, and we obviously like each other, soooooooo, you wanna talk or have a drink or something? And whatever is nearby, McDonalds, a bar, Dennys, whatever, thats where we go and get aquainted. 
Im NOT shy!

I get looks. Most of the time I don't mind. I don't know mind the looks, but after a certain point when it's not reciprocated it can be annoying. On the other hand, when I was a teenager, I grew up in Germany and would have those moments with guys in the subway but they never made any move and we never saw each other again. That was unfortunate. Many guys in Germany (in my experience) are not as forward as in other countries. Of course I was not mature and confident enough to make a move either beside smiling. My fault. |

Let me just add here something,,,
All my life I NEVER really noticed women,,not taking a glance at me,,some,,with BIG eyes,,some much younger and all dolled eyes of giggles and teases among their little group,,lol many second and third glance back to make sure I KNEW they found me hot NOW,,,,As I said I never really felt their stares at me growing and when I was under forty,,,, LET ME TELL YOU---I NOTICED WHEN THEY STOPPED LOOKING!
That,,,hit home to my thought processes MUCH MORE,,noticeable than when they all were.... So flaunt it baby and live-it while their STILL LOOKING... Because when THEY STOP,,,,,YOUR OLD,,,within your own thoughts,wink Agreed, I have no problem with getting checked out in the nice way. But the creepy looks are not cool. It would be the same feeling as your aunt or your daughter checking you out. |

Thanks. I can laugh about it now because I'm around you nice people who talk to me and treat me like a person. Perhaps you misinterpetted me... I wanna look at your butt. Have you ever tried STOPPING him? You need a court order, a papal dispensation, some kind of pliers, and special shoelaces. One man can only do so much. Or so they tell me. 
Aside from which, he said worse about me! (Not saying it isn't true, just that it was worse.) "Papal dispensations"? WHOAH!!!!!! I am straight....just figured I should say that out loud. Actually, I don't even know what it means. I think it's a machine where you can buy gum. I didn't know either and looked it up. I thought it was a medical instrument. wikipedia: Papal dispensation is a reserved right of the Pope that allows for individuals to be exempted from a specific Canon Law. |

To me some stares are totally flattering, especially if it's followed by a smile (by me or/and him), greeting, or conversation. Some stares that go on for too long is not pleasant at all. In one of many instances I was leaving my house to get in to my car and the guy who was painting my downstairs neighbors window stopped his work and just stared at me. I said hi and he didn't respond back. I said hi again and nothing. I went in my car and saw he was still staring. I got out of my car and asked him if he needed something and he said no and went inside my neighbors house and shut the door. I guess my point is that stares can be flattering but also intimidating when it is done so bluntly. It can make people feel as if something is being done to them when in fact it could be a positive experience. that guy sounds like a pervert or someone that has a major social disfuntion, i would at least say hi back, not just run inside and hide. be aware of idiots like that! you might end up in his basement tied up and used for perverted ways Thanks for adding some color and variety of opinion to the thread. Yes, that was totally creepy. I'm pretty good at this kind of stuff so I'm not too worried. It was a handy man from last year. |

You’re walking on the street or you’re somewhere public and you get checked out. The guy keeps looking at you and won’t stop looking even though you’re not smiling. How do you feel? This happens a lot, but I don't stress over it. It's out of my control. So they can look all they want.

soufiehere & ujGearhead I like your carefree outlook. I guess growing up in the middle east where (back than) women were not equals to men and they were objectified, getting whistled at etc... I probably developed some defenses.
