I live in one of the highest tax States in the US. I don't see that changing because Chicago is connected to downstate, when it comes to issuing out government funds for anything. Our Governor is Republican but many Democratts want him out in November. He really has stopped this state from spending unnecessary money, but the last three years fighting with the Unions and. Democrats. has taken a toll on the man. This is a union City and the Man don't want that!!! If the polititians could come together for what's best for the state would be a Great thing. Chicago probably receives a disproportionate amount of the state income taxes. I went to college in Michigan and the same complaint constantly is brought up about Detroit. Many cities and counties get next to nothing while Detroit gets way more than it should. |

... The spenders need to be put on a budget.
Thirty years ago I held the position that all house of representatives and senators should be sent home and single moms be sent to congress. Single moms tended to budget a whole lot better than the out of control people we have in congress. |

If you go into a marriage just because of the sex, your on the road to being divorced. There are times in a person's life whether it be health or mental issues or just don't want sex that will test your marriage. What's lacking in a relationship is friendship and unconditional love nowadays. Look within yourself and see what's really important. Fun for a few minutes or the love and support from your significant other. Do women really believe men marry only for sex? I've met a few who did but not the majority. In re-readng the OP's post that message didn't come across. Now, IMO this is the wrong place for him. Seeing a marriage counselor would be a first. Second a Looooong, open minded, talk with the wife would be in order with the inevitable question of "why did sex die" eventually being asked. Who knows what the reason is? It could be he did something or she just lost interest in him. Again this is not the place to find an answer to this issue. |

In my childhood, most women where homemakers and men worked to support the family. There were some women who worked, mostly in offices, teaching, or nursing. I remember my mother doing ironing for the neighbor lady. Later, as I was well into my career, my employer was forced by the government to hire women(the minority) into our organization. It didn't matter if they were capable or not only if they had the required degree. The rest of us had to help them do their work. Eventually there became enough educated women who could actually do the job. That same trend continues in different fields with women wanting equality but not having the capabilities or willingness to take the responsibility. The "Me Too" movement might just be the final straw that starts the war. Yes, some of the things that happened to women were wrong, but many "me too" instances where just someone's feathers getting ruffled yet resulted in the destruction of a career. Why would any male controlled establishment take the risk of hiring a woman, especially a younger one? This whole mess probably started with the college dating accusations and the destruction it caused. Maybe the next step in this will be the requirement for a signed and notarized release from accusations of sexual impropriety. Add that right in with the non-disclosure, no compete document. The #MeToo witch-hunt madness is the straw that breaks the camel's back. What man in his right mind would now want to get mixed up with women at work? It's already dangerous enough to mix up with them in a social setting. The "Pence Rule" is a life saver, literally, and is now spreading to all corners of the globe as the MeToo movement gains momentum in every country of the world. I hope the #MeToo madness never dies down. Men and boys need to realize what dangerous footing they're on messing with women in any way, shape or form. I told a friend that to me feminism is worst than the mafia due to the fact that they use shame tactics as well as attacking men because they don't like rejection..... also in some workplaces men are being harassed as well "Men harassed" ? Congrats, you just got your Misogyny card. Everyone knows that Harassment towards men is IMPOSSIBLE and is an invention of the Patriarchy According to N.O.W. the Patriarchy is the cause of all of the worlds woes. Back in the 80's one of the leaders of NOW stated that men are only good for breeding. Once that task is completed he has no other use in the family unit and should be removed to prevent a bad influence. Just the other day I was talking to my kids about the lives we have lived. I've basically been mom and dad to them. Today I mowed the lawn, last week I made two mortgage payments, in a few minutes I'll start laundry. The kids said if i wasn't stupid they wouldn't be here. It isn't that women are feminists, it's men not being of any value to the family. My dad supported us. I've been the bread winner of my family. They did a study and husband's stress a woman more than the kids. He is supposed to help but he only makes things worse. When money is tight i can budget. When I'm married I have to listen to a damn cry baby complain. No balls to go out and work a side job to pay a bill. More like a woman needing to be supported. I guess I question the source of this "study". Of all the men I've known (I'm 67) most worked hard and supported their families. They did their share of housework and were faithful to the wives. Of course, when listening to the evening news or the latest talk show it was always "men are created evil". I never put any stock in Oprah. Phil Donahue (who happened to graduate from a local university- Notre Dame) wasn't happy unless he seriously attacked men. Possibly within the 20's to early 40's age range today this may have changed but studies, talk shows and "discoveries" on the news have been biased against men for over 30 years. Psychology and marriage "studies" seem to change their opinions every ten years. These three sources of "information" seem to have a vendetta against men in the family within American society. I, sure as heck, did my fair share of financial support and housework and the men I knew did the same. |

It's possible but the one thing that is not perceivable online is their personality. Meeting someone in real life gives a much better perception than online. If one meets someone you can usually tell if there is something that cuts the wrong way and you just say good-by. When a relationship kicks off online there is an informal relationship started and it's harder to walk away.

When I first signed up on Mingle2 I viewed all of the women (+/- 10 years) within a 30 mile radius. At the time I was 61 years old. Interestingly, those women who had kept themselves in very good shape knew it. The majority of them stated they wanted men starting 2-5 years younger than themselves on down into the 40's and most had a long laundry list of requirements.
IMO, men wanting someone 20 years younger are kidding themselves for a variety of reasons that we all know. However, there are women who do the same. Maybe not quite as many but they're still out there so it's not just men. |

Ive often thought it was fascinating that Americans can write off their interest up to one million dollars, which definitely helps towards income tax, but that trade off is you guys are charged capital gains tax unless you use the quit deed loophole . Up here in Canada we are not charged with capital gains taxes when we sell out principal residence. When the perceived value of a house goes up (USA) property taxes go up with it. What the government refuses to take into account is a good part of that is inflation. If the government was forced to take inflation into account taxes would decrease resulting in government income going down. Every nation co-ordinates their tax system differently. The USA may have some taxes higher than Canada but I'm sure Canadians pay other taxes that are higher than in America. Ultimately the people pay to support the political spenders. |

No offence Dave but I could rip one of them Sears tool boxes in under a minute. Armrests, Glovebox or sears Tool boxes are wayyyy not safe. just my opinion. Not while I'm home you won't. When I leave it travels with me. On top of all this, only my children know I own a hand gun. This is something I don't advertise and, other than the city and state no one on mingle2 knows my address. I'm curious, let's say you have a dentist appointment, you load up the weapon, grab your sunglasses and car keys, you put your weapon in your armrest for the drive. once you're there, it stays in the armrest for an hour unlocked? Don't advertise your gun that's fine, i'd just assume everyone had 3 weapons on them, if I was a criminal Modern day cars have locks!!!!!!!!!!!! and I always lock my car, ALWAYS, and I never use the electronic key fob, NEVER. I can rip into your Ford in under a minute too! Thank goodness you locked it in your glove box eh? it's totally safe there, I approve this method I don't own a Ford. Why are you so bent on stating your abilities to break into houses, tool boxes and cars? Are these your specialties in life? Nah I'm hellbent on showing you your pizz poor choices in storing your deadly weapons If someone doesn't know they're there why would they break-in looking for them? |

Try to imagine, for a minute, a world with open borders. Anyone could freely go anywhere to live. What would happen to civilization as we know it. How would there be any semblance of government or the programs government provides to its citizens? How would order be maintained? How would laws be enforced? How safe would anybody be, even in their own homes? Borders are important for many reasons. Lax borders invite chaos, controlled borders invite unity and order. Many countries use lethal force to protect their borders. Being civilized does not mean giving up unity and order, it means protecting unity and order, with lethal force if necessary. Imagine the impact of shooting some illegals and throwing their corpses back across the border. I guarantee there will be less people trying to enter illegally. The no boarders ideology reminds me of the socialistic idea's of the 60's hippy movement. Free love, own no property (live on some one else's), live out in the country on communes, live off of the land, etc. Sounded great but we all know what kind of fiasco that turned into. |

FWIW:
According to Planned Parenthood, a first-trimester abortion costs $300-950. Second trimester abortions cost $1200-$2100 or more. Third trimester abortions are quoted individually but are reported to be in excess of $5,000. Rep. Bill Johnson of Ohio said that “in 2013, abortions made up 94 percent of Planned Parenthood’s so-called pregnancy services.” That was after the release of undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood officials talking about procedures for collecting aborted fetal tissue for research. The figure comes from adding together the numbers Planned Parenthood did provide for its abortion procedures (327,653), prenatal services (18,684) and adoption referrals (1,880), and then dividing the number of abortions by that cumulative figure (348,217). Planned Parenthood is anything but planning parenthood. |

Babies are great....the problem with the idea that the baby must be protected before it is born is that the baby must be gestated in a womans body. That woman should have the choice whether or not to have her body used. If not, where do we draw the line on how much access other people have to another persons body. its not about murder. if the concern is about the unborn life, then why not explore options of gestation of life without using the life of another. btw, in the us, shocking rates of childbirth mortality for women exist. what should we do about those lives? When a man and woman crawl in bed they both know what they're doing. They both know this can lead to pregnancy. Sex education in schools has settled that question. A convicted murderer is always given a last minute hearing before being executed. So why are unborn children not given the same courtesy when doubt about them being alive or not exists? Abortions are available because of the inconvenience of a pregnancy and a child. The old excuse: her life is in at stake, in the Vast majority of cases is false. The woman is inconvenienced and the man, unfortunately, gets away without responsibility. It's one thing for a woman to have control of her body with regard to reproduction. It is another when her body is used as a cocoon to allow a human (that is alive) to grown to where it can be born. Yes, I feel abortion is murder and our nation has performed over 60,000,000 of them. |

Because society tries to force everyone into monogamy and that is not the preferred relationship that fits some people. Often when people are dating at a younger age, they date multiple people and have multiple sex partners. Society then expects them to change into a monogamist after they get married. Might work for awhile but it is not their natural inclination! I guess I have to disagree. Society has been conditioned by our entertainment systems to accept and believe in free sex and non-monogamous relationships. The big swing began during the late 60's. The major reason teen and early 20's multiple sex partnerships came about was: birth control became available for non-married women (doctors would never consider giving a prescription to a single high school or college girl), abortion on demand and entertainment displayed it as normal. When growing up we knew some couples were involved in outside of marriage sex but it wasn't accepted as normal. Teen and early 20's women were afraid of pregnancy and the "reputation" . Living together was unheard of during the early to mid 60's. Society has been conditioned to accept outside of marriage sex as normal. |

I'm retire (if that indicates my age) and the vast majority of men that I've known who had affairs did NOT do so just because "they could", "it's in their genes" or "they wanted to spread their seed around". Most had marriages that one could see that both parties had issues and communications (both ways) had slowed to a crawl. Most of these marriages acted like room mates with a marriage license.
FWIW, the vast majority of married men who have affairs do so with a married woman. Frustrating that when marital cheating is brought up it's always "Men who Cheat". Let us all remember to ask the question "who were/are these married men cheating with"? A MARRIED WOMAN! By no means am I justifying this activity but the subject always seems to be one sided. Why is the cheating married woman usually ignored? |

Democrat's have posted an "Abolish ICE bill" before Congress. They know all to well how dangerous having open boarders would be so why have they proposed this? Personally I think the republicans should push this very hard for a vote before the fall election just to see how the democrat's really vote. Whether this is how they really feel or is this an attempt to appeal emotionally to Hispanic voters would show their real colors. It would seem the democrat's may have placed themself into a corner.

Most of those who want a strict word for word reading of the Constitution don't realize this, and assume that whatever has been done or is being done which they LIKE, will continue to be done as it is, even though they completely destroy the legal ability of the government to do it, by demanding the literal readings.
... and many who dislike the limits on federal government power want to stretch it to any length they can in order to take away the states rights. State politicians tend to respond to citizen pressure much more than federal elected officials. this is one big reason the founding fathers assigned some things to the state level yet we have federal government officials encroaching on state responsibilities. We've had federal and supreme court judges legislate law from the bench and the constitution limits legislation to congress. The judicial branch is to enforce laws written by congress only. Not stretch laws to suit their beliefs. |

The idea that a Supreme Court Justice either "interprets the law according to the Constitution" or they don't, has always been a mistake. Mainly because too many people wildly over-simplify what it actually means to do that. Reality is far more complex and subtle than that. The Constitution is a collection of mostly very general statements, not a list of narrow specifics, that anyone can read and say (especially after 1789) means exactly one thing and nothing else. It is in the nature of the rule of law itself, for that matter, that people are at the mercy of the way words were written at the time that a law is passed, more than they are served by the INTENTIONS of the people who wrote them. Some classic examples, are that according to a totally dry reading of the Constitution, which assumes (as some claim to want) that the Federal Government only be allowed to do specifically what is said that is can do, and not one thing more, there would have been no Louisiana Purchase, no interstate highway system, no exploration of Space, no international communications systems, and on and on. ALL of those things and vastly more, are the result of all sorts of people interpreting the Constitution entirely differently than a word-for-word reading permits. Chief Justice's Warren and Burger publicly made the statements they will push the constitution as far as they can if they want. Unfortunately we're still having to live with their reinterpretation of the constitution. The words written in the constitution were written to say want they wanted. The constitution was established more to limit those who are governmental leaders than to limit the people. Reading the writings of writers of the constitution gives a lot of enlightenment on what they believed and defines what they wrote in the constitution. It's quite obvious that some don't like the constitution and would like to overturn parts of it. Saying it's highly complex and difficult to interpret opens the door to interpret it any way the wind blows. The Constitutional Convention made many drafts and many revisions to the Constitution. Better, perhaps, to note when the Convention started, May 25, 1787; and when it adjourned, September 17, 1787, or 116 days. A group of people don't spend 116 days drawing up a document that will be nebulous in it's application. |
