Maybe the right can hire Sara Palin's witch doctor pastor to pray away the evil...

I mean, can you freakin' imagine if that was Obama's pastor?

obama has raised over 1/2 a billion in campaign funds.....most of it coming from over seas, and under $200. so it isnt traceable....

(by law the only donations that can be accepted from out of country is from servicemen, and americans abroad)

Got some proof on that one?
look it up yourself....over 51% of his money came from sources under $200.

Oh, I agree with that. It's the "most of it coming from over seas" I call BS.

The discourse from our fearful friends on the right is growing increasingly desperate and angry. The possibility that their antichrist, their "Pal of terrorists," their "empty suit," actually might get elected along with a wave of new Democrats in Congress is becoming their horrific reality.

Imo, this blue tide is both an affirmation of Barack Obama and a repudiation of George Bush and of John McCain, the man who sided with "Dubya" over 90% of the time.

I acknowledge the economic crisis is a result of both parties, but George Bush's wasteful war in Iraq was the nail (screw is more appropriate) that may just seal John McCain's political coffin.

Bet you don't know who Gray Davis is without googling him. LOL

I do. I don't recall the years exactly, but I'd guess some time in the 90's. The CAL-DOJ was a very important customer of mine at the time. Specifically, the company I worked for provided and maintained their AFIS (google that). Our contract stipulated a fee increase which we didn't implement due to the CA budget crisis. I'd guess that was '92 or so... Yep. Spent a lot of tome in Sacramento...

Woody, you seriously think we don't need to change direction from the policies of the current administration?

Senator McCain, as you sink lower in the polls, is negative campaigning and smearing Senator Obama your only hope in this race?

Good luck, woodster. If you can't beat him, see if you can sue him out of the race.

This is a tactic the right uses to manipulate the masses they've underfunded education for over the years... They did it (and still do it) to Gore and Kerry, and now they're doing it to Obama. And people wonder why NASCAR got a tax break...

The War on Intellectualism
"It seems there is a new threat to our country- an insidious danger that is seeping into our homes and everyday lives that must be stopped at any cost. That threat is intellectualism.

We have heard the some of the buzzwords of this political season- Folksy, Joe Six-pack, Elitist, and Arugula Eating. It seems the new "culture war" or wedge issue is intelligence. The Vice-Presidential debate only solidified the lines in this war. On one side, you had Palin- full of "folksy charm" and "you betcha" language. Then you had Biden, who had a command of the issues, but was called "boring" and (gasp!) "professorial" by the pundits.

Is this the point we have come to in our country? Do we really think that having knowledge about an issue is a liability? Have we learned nothing from the past eight years about voting for the person you "want to have a beer with"? Is being smart or intellectually curious a bad thing?"

this independent columnistis known for his radical views. he shuns feminism and president bush, as well as evolution. His work, written in a unique and articulate style, is often satirical and heavily opinionated. Reed notes that his columns are often provocative, and calls himself "an equal-opportunity irritant."

his opinion doesnt count.

his vote shouldnt either.

reminds me of michael moore.

i hate that guy.

Opinion doesn't count, neither should his vote? Nice, Goring, but it doens't work that way.

If McCain can't show that he has recieved treatment for the mental illness thats obvious in his track history, then he is not just unprepared to be president, but flat out a danger to America.

I agree McCain's temperament and volatility is an issue. He flickers between warm and hot while Obama stays cool.

Your hateful attitude just prompted me to give more money to Obama. He thanks you.

We've got big problems, and it's going to be very difficult to do much with the $10T debt and current record deficits. We need to start right at the core and address our capitalist system. It turns out Gordon Gecko was wrong. Greed is not good. The constant pressure for growth and higher profit had bankrupted us in many ways:

- Health technology and pharmaceutical companies contribute to an obscenely expensive health care system that's unaffordable to millions.
- Our military-industrial complex drive for higher revenues and profits fuels world conflict and warps our foreign policy.
- The financial and political power of oil companies keeps us dependent on petroleum and the Middle-East.
- Giant media conglomerates control the message and craft it to sustain the status quo and maximize profit.

I can't say I have a solution to any of this, but I have my doubts whether we can sustain infinite growth. The planet cannot support it, so we need to devise a system that moves us back to more local, sustainable economies and away from giant corporations feeding us Big Macs, Big Brother on Big Screens, and a Big Gulp to wash down handfuls of Prozac so we can deal with it all.
