How would you know me?

I tread this path, confused, alone
No eyes to look inside
I'm given words of love and hope
Have feelings I can't hide

I seek a smile that warms my heart
And many I have found
Yet still I wake another day
To no one else around

For years I've known a loneliness
A bittersweet old friend
It's made my life much simpler
But now I wish it's end

I cast my heart in words and rhyme
Into this lake of souls
I tell of dreams, of thoughts I have
Of challenges and goals

I've nothing here to use as bait
I offer simply, me
I speak a truth from deep inside
I hope someone will see

I ask "how would you know me?"
As lover or a friend?
I pray a sign, that I may know
So our walk might begin
