Yes...I have let them know (calmly and then not so calmly) about it. My "step dad" is a control freak and it has to be his way or nothing.

My niece is living with them while she is in college right now. They go through her closets and drawers and has even followed her when she is going to a friend's house, because they have told her they don't trust her.

I trust my niece more than I trust myself. She is the good girl of the family.

My niece has low self esteem because they make her feel bad just because of her style of clothes.

So ANYONE that thinks about saying (if something happened to her) that she deserved it because of her style....needs to think again

let me tell this story....because I'm livid right now about it.

My niece is almost 20. She was a straight A student in high school and doing very well in college. She doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs, sleep around. She goes to church every Sunday and helps with the youth group. She is always there to help someone in need.

She dresses a bit different, but still not sleazy. She takes after my sister who had her own style when she was young.

My mother and her husband having been putting her down and calling her a slut and telling her that guys look at her in certain ways and it's her fault.

She has big boobs (nature gave her that) but doesn't dress sleazy, just different.

Does my niece deserve to be treated this way just because others can't control themselves or want to assume and judge?

I have complete respect for her and wish more women would do the same under the same circumstances. Some guys (like the one the OP was talking about) are really immature, and women seem to always use them as the stereotype, so I understand why you got upset, but life is too short to worry about pineapples. and geesh people.. some people like to go out once in a while.. and dont go to bars every weekend... just because i go to a bar 3 times a yr does not make me a barfly... because i went to listen to my friends band makes me a barfly? i think sometimes you could meet someone at a bar.. your are all sterio typing every patron that you happen to see in a bar.. quite interesting..

not that i can play pool very good but i like sometimes to go try.. should i drive 30 miles to a billiard place and pay 4 times as much to play a game of pool or go to the bar down the street? lol..

when i used to go out much more often to bars, ive seen a lot of people who just went to do kereoke that did not drink

Actually he's right. And while women claim to not want to see pics of shirtless men, they seem to get better results than those who don't. Other things of note are that women should be looking up, and the bottom line for both sexes is attitude. People make their decisions in two seconds after they see the picture, and if they detect positive attitude it's a thumbs up. Negative attitude from the pic gets a thumbs down. When writing words like 'hi', 'hello', 'hey' all got bad results. The best results came when there was no greeting at all..

It is difficult to imagine that any topic or thread in a public forum is a safe haven for one member to post a topic and other members sit in silent acquiescence.
