The following rules have been established to help maintain a civil and friendly environment, allowing everyone to enjoy the discussions found here.
Please read this post completely in order to prevent any potential rules violations. FORUM RULES 1) Do not attack/slam/insult others. You can discuss the message or topic, but not the messenger - NO EXCEPTIONS. If you are attacked by another user, and you reciprocate, YOU will also be subject to the same consequences. Defending yourself, defending a friend, etc. are NOT excuses. Violations of this rule are taken very seriously and may result in being banned without warning! 2) Topics which are started with the intent to denigrate, belittle, or disparage another JustSayHi member, either directly named or through enough descriptive commentary to be possibly identified, are prohibited. Such topics will be instantly deleted and may result in the banning of the original poster. This includes following another poster around in the forums, posting about past events gone sour, divulging personal information, spreading gossip or rumors, posting email exchanges between users, etc. Keep the drama off the forums! 3) Do not post an email or mail message from any other JustSayHi user or moderator on the forums at any time. 4) No explicit, sexual, offensive, insulting or vulgar language. The JustSayHi forums are rated PG-13. The only exception is the Sex and Dating forum which is rated R, NOT X. 5) No derogatory or offensive references to sex, gender, ethnicity, religions, or sexual orientation. 6) Pity-seeking or attention-seeking topics which serve only to draw attention to yourself are not permitted on the forums. The forums are provided for the enjoyment of all members. They are not about you. The only exception to this rule is the New Members Welcome Area where posters are permitted to introduce themselves to the community, and the Rate My Profile forum where you may ask for feedback about yourself and your profile. 7) Hijacking a topic by making posts which are off-topic and unrelated to the original post is considered rude. Please try to keep your posts pertinent to the topic at hand. We will allow some leeway in this area, as there is some amount of "topic drift" that occurs in a normal conversation that we will permit. However, members who we feel are continually and intentionally hijacking topics, especially after having been warned by a moderator, may have their posting privileges suspended. We ask all users to do their best to stay on-topic. 8) For your safety, do not post personal information such as telephone numbers, emails, mailing addresses, instant messenger ids, etc 9) Do not post messages that violate federal, state/provincial, or local laws which include, but are not limited to, anything that violates a copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or is bound by NDA (non-disclosure agreement) 10) Do not spam the boards with advertisements for other services, websites, etc. 11) Post topics in the appropriate forum. For example, chat topics like "I'm bored", or "Goodnight everyone" belong in the Chit Chat forum. Members who repeatedly post topics in the wrong forum could lose their posting privileges. 12) Multiple profiles are not allowed. You may only have 1 profile per user. Users who are found to have created multiple profiles will have all of their profiles deleted. 13) Please do NOT post suicide notes or threats (or posts which could be interpreted as such) on the forums. This can be incredibly damaging to members and the staff, and we are NOT trained in counseling to deal with such things. If you DO feel suicidal, please contact a real life counselor or support helpline. We do care about you, but we are not equipped to deal with such a situation. If you post such a note, it will be immediately deleted from the forums and your account will be removed from the site. 14) "Goodbye" and "I'm leaving" posts where a user is declaring that they are leaving the site are not allowed and will be deleted from the forums. You obviously are free to leave the site at any time, but if you wish to notify your friends that you are going, please do so using the private messaging system. 15) If you have concerns about another poster or wish to report a rule violation, the ONLY appropriate venue is to use the Report Abuse feature or to message Vanchau or Mike. You may NOT air such concerns on the message boards themselves. If you have a general concern that does not involve a specific member, you may post your question in a civil manner in the "Feedback" or "Help" forums. 16) Protesting a moderator or admin action is not allowed on the forums at any time. Anyone that creates or participates in a protest topic, outlines any protest in their profile, posts any negative commentary with regards to moderation or administration, or discusses emails/actions between moderators/admins and themselves in their profiles or in the forums will have their posting privileges suspended or may even be permanently banned from the site. The forums or other public venues are not the appropriate place to lodge a complaint. If you have a question or concern about a moderator or admin action, you should email one of the moderators or an admin with your concern and we will investigate the matter promptly. 17) In general, you absolutely should feel free to report a post even if you are unsure if it violates the forum rules. A moderator will review it and determine if a rule has been broken. However, a very small group of members have attempted to abuse the Reporting functions of the site by submitting an excessive number of frivolous abuse reports. Overusing and abusing the Reporting functions in such a manner will be considered a violation of the site rules. Thanks for your cooperation and we hope you are enjoying the site! |

We had some problems sending mail to certain accounts, but we think it's been fixed. If you're still seeing issues, let us know and we'll look into it.

Sorry about that folks. I think the posts at least are fixed now. We just deleted all the posts that had messed up times, so if your post is missing, please don't take it personally.
Let me know if you see any more problems in the topics. |

Forum Etiquette

OK folks - I'm gonna lock this topic. But here's a few final comments I wanted to make:
- It is against the site rules to have multiple profiles. That's why some of your accounts were removed azrael. If it's not clear enough, I'll make sure to include it in more visible spots on the site. The reason for this rule is that people do all kinds of bad things with multiple profiles. They use them to deceive other people. They use them to get around site rules or bans. They use them to pretend that another user is supporting their argument, etc. etc. So we delete accounts that we find have multiple profiles. Again, we'll make this rule more clear on the site. - The rules are here to stay. I definitely agree with peachiepoohie that it'd be much better if everyone on the site could just behave like the adults that most of us are and follow the rules on their own, but unfortunately, we've learned the hard way that that will never happen. So, we (the site admins) created the forum rules to ensure that the forums remain the kind of place that we want them to be. Frankly, our rules are extremely loose. We pretty much allow you to talk about anything and everything on the site. We even allow criticism of the site to remain in most cases - that's not something you'll find on other sites. The one thing we are extremely strict about is that you can't attack other users. If you find our rules too restrictive, then perhaps JSH isn't the right place for you. But we think most people appreciate the fact that the rules exist, and that the mods do such a fantastic job in making sure they are enforced fairly. So thank you, mods, for everything that you do for the JustSayHi community! |

We are currently experiencing problems sending email to hotmail. We are working on a fix, but in the meantime, if you have a hotmail email address, you won't be able to receive email notifications. If you switch to a different email address, you shouldn't have any problems.
Sorry about that. We'll let you know as soon as a fix is up. |

P.S. because of the site problems, we had a backlog of mail that needed to be sent. So you might see a bunch of email notifications that you have new mail which are actually notifications of mail you received a while ago...

Hi folks,
We finally were able to figure out what was going on with the site. Everything should be working properly now. We're so sorry for the inconvenience! If you see any more issues, just let us know. Thanks, and sorry again. Mike, Andrew, Vanchau, and Matt |

Hi folks,
Some of you may have noticed that we launched a new post reporting system. Next to the "Quote" and "Reply" links on each post, you'll now find a "Report Post" link. If you see a problematic post or topic on the site, you can click on the "Report Post" link and let us know why you think the post is inappropriate. Those reports go directly to the moderating team. They'll review your report and take any appropriate action. For any forum issues, please use the Report Post system, and DO NOT use the "Report Abuse" button on the user's profile any longer. Abuse reports are only seen by the admins, not the mods, and so they won't be acted on nearly as quickly. For non-forum issues, i.e. if you suspect someone is a scammer, bad emails, bad profiles, etc., please continue to use the Report Abuse button on their profile to let us know. Thanks! Mike |

Sex and dating should now be back under "My Topics". It still will not appear under Recent Posts though, so if you're looking for the latest posts in that forum, make sure to go into the forum itself.

Mike why are some of our pics dissapearing? I'm not seeing any pics disappearing. Can you explain in a little more detail what's happening for you? |
|
|
|
We removed Sex and Dating from the "Recent Posts" page because the content in that forum can be a little racier, so we didn't want to expose people to it who didn't want to see it.
You can always see the latest Sex and Dating content by going directly to that forum. So if you're looking for it, it's still there. |

Introducing Andrew!
|
|
Hi everyone,
I'm very pleased to announce that we have a new member of the JustSayHi team! Andrew has been doing some development work for us as a contractor for some time now (he built Mutual Match!), but recently we were fortunate enough to be able to convince him to join us full time! Andrew will be helping us build out all kinds of new features that we have planned for JustSayHi, as well as just helping us run the site in general. We are extremely lucky to have him. He's not only the best and smartest developer that I know, but he's also just a great guy and a lot of fun to work with. Andrew's username on JustSayHi is ajb. Please join me in welcoming him to the team! Thanks, and hope you're all enjoying the site. Mike, Vanchau, Matt, and Andrew |

If you get an email letting you know that you have a message on the site, then find that there is no mail once you log in, this is most likely due to the sender having deactivated their account.
The email you received should tell you what username the message was from. If you click on the Search tab, in the box at the top you'll find a link "Search by Username". Click on that link and enter in the username of the user that sent you a message and you can see whether they are still active or not. If they are still active, the email you received should also tell you the date and time that the message was sent on JustSayHi. It's possible that you've already read the message on JustSayHi, but the email notification was delayed due to internet traffic or issues with your ISP. Look in your inbox for a message sent at the same time and from the same user as indicated in the email notification - you should find it there. We do NOT send any fake email notifications - EVER. Hope that helps clarify things. Mike |

Repeated posting of the same post would be considered spamming the boards which is a forum rule violation. Please refrain from making multiple copies of the same post.
Thanks for your cooperation. |

No sorry Tom, you're fine. We made a change to the forums where topics cannot exceed 50 pages in length. Long topics put a bad strain on our servers.
Instead, what happens now is that once a topic exceeds 50 pages in length, it locks and a new topic is automatically created. The new topic will have the same subject as the old one and will show the same original author, but it'll have a "- part X" appended to it. The new topic will link back to the first topic, and vice versa. |
