These are all wonderful expressions and sentiments, yet I can't help wondering why the request? If you were expressing yourself in art or music would it mean less? These are your forms of expression, listen to the music you feel and let the color of your emotion flow. What? Would that be too intense to be revealed in public, would you not be able to talk through the emotion (I can't that's one reason I write) - fine. Write it - find someone else to accompany you with the words your music speaks for you to you about your mom through you. Don't pull back in shock, you can do this.flowerforyou

Ramses II had quite a few structures built - Abu Simbel, I find interesting because the size of the statues of him are the same height as the number of years he ruled - I'm wondering which specific "abode of repose" you are referring to?

FAILURE ... DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE A FAILURE
IT DOES MEAN YOU HAVEN'T SUCCEEDED YET.
DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING...
IT DOES MEAN YOU HAVE LEARNED SOMETHING.
DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE BEEN A FOOL...
IT DOES MEAN YOU HAD A LOT OF FAITH.
DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE BEEN DISGRACED....
IT DOES MEAN YOU ARE WILLING TO TRY.
DOESN'T MEAN YOU DON'T HAVE IT...
IT DOES MEAN YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING IN A DIFFERENT WAY.
DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE INFERIOR...
IT DOES MEAN YOU ARE NOT PERFECT.
DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE WASTED YOUR LIFE...
IT DOES MEAN YOU HAVE THE REASON TO START A FRESH.
DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULD GIVE UP...
IT DOES MEAN YOU MUST TRY HARDER.
DOESN'T MEAN YOU'LL NEVER MAKE IT...
IT DOES MEAN IT WILL TAKE A LITTLE LONGER
DOESN'T MEAN GOD HAS ABANDONED YOU....
IT DOES MEAN GOD HAS A BETTER IDEA.

Don't forget to put where they're from or unknown. The above I found a lot of author unknowns and a couple postings attributing it to The Reverend Dr. Robert Schuller from his, "365 Positive Thoughts", etc. book.

Jonathan Bing

Betrice Curtis Brown

Poor old Jonathan Bing
Went out in his carriage to visit the King,
But everyone pointed and said, "Look at that!
Jonathan Bing has forgotten his hat!"
(He'd forgotten his hat!)

Poor old Jonathan Bing
Went home and put on a new hat for the King,
But by the palace the soldier said, "Hi!
You can't see the King; you've forgotten your tie!"
(He'd forgotten his tie!)

Poor old Jonathan Bing,
He put on a beautiful tie for the King,
But when he arrived, and Archbishop said, "Ho!
You can't come to court in pajamas, you know!"

Poor old Jonathan Bing
Went home and addressed a short note to the King:
"If you please will excuse me, I won't come to tea;
For home's the best place for all people like me!"

Okay, enough memory lane for me, NEXT!!!

Woops, got the title wrong above:

The Moon's the North Wind's Cookie
(What the Little Girl Said)
by Vachel Lindsay (1879-1931)

The Moon's the North Wind's cookie
He bites it, day by day
Until there's but a rim of scraps
That crumble all away.

The South Wind is the baker
He kneads clouds in his den,
And bakes a crisp new moon that ...
greedy.... North.... Wind ....eats....again!

Daddy Fell into the Pond
a poem by Alfred Noyes

Everyone grumbled. The sky was grey.
We had nothing to do and nothing to say.
We were nearing the end of a dismal day,
And then there seemed to be nothing beyond,
Then
Daddy fell into the pond!

And everyone's face grew merry and bright,
And Timothy danced for sheer delight.
"Give me the camera, quick, oh quick!
He's crawling out of the duckweed!" Click!

Then the gardener suddenly slapped his knee,
And doubled up, shaking silently,
And the ducks all quacked as if they were daft,
And it sounded as if the old drake laughed.
Oh, there wasn't a thing that didn't respond
When
Daddy Fell into the pond!

bigsmile My sisters and I played school. We had a yellow hard cover book of varied poetry and though I had as an assignment to memorize "The Moon is the North Wind's Cookie", THIS was always one of my favorites along with Poor Old "Jonathan Bing".

Thank you, Ainjel and Myst.

Hmmmm, huckleberry, without delving into a past where I'd built a reaction to maintain more of a third person observer mode rather than allow an open and honest reaction by self, I couldn't answer that question as I didn't experience of what you speak. Now, having fairly recently learned what I needed to from that and allowed that past to be left in the past, I'd have to say I experience an inability to focus my eyes, let alone my thoughts by that particular point, so yes the stars do most definitely twinkle whether I can see them or not.

Love Outdoors

A gauntlet was thrown
To write a poem
Based on making love outdoors.

With sinking heart,
I could not take part
For that form of love, I’ve not known.

“Oh, but my dear,”
My thoughts echoed and sneered
“Within that very love, you have grown.

For the earth and the sky
Are an ancient lover’s guide,
As their cyclical interactions have shown.

Your planet of wonder
In quiet gentleness or harsh thunder
Depicts love reciprocal.

Their lovemaking astounds you
Encompasses and surrounds you
And human love emulates this very need.

Weather it be gentle or rough
It eventually releases and calms
Implanting and enhancing love’s seed.”

Nothin wrong with a hick,Ive got no shame in it, my towns full of them.

If youre from a small southern town, thats just what you are-
what you learn .isnt limited, I kinda like being a hick, we actually care about other people here .
Southern, northern, eastern, western, geography does not seem to matter, the small town does seem to be a factor and you are correct learning is not limited by beginnings, but by choice.
