The draw, it seems,
Is the words in your head.
No matter your style,
Your words will be read.

Some voices are gentle.
Some voices are dark.
Some voices bring laughter.
Some create quite a spark!

There are times, yes,
We don’t quite agree
On what is and what isn’t
True poetry.

I don’t care
If your style is or is NOT “labeled”,
You’ve touched me with your words
And for that, I am grateful!

I wanna be
In a Brooks & Dunn shirt.
Maybe one that’ll match
My Southwestern skirt.

I wanna get
All duded up right.
Go out to a dive bar,
Shoot pool, and fight.

I wanna have
The freedom to roam.
Make liv’in outdoors
My natural home.

I wanna follow
The cowpoke's course.
A pity, you know,
I’ve never ridden a horse.

I have all the trappings
Including a belt made of snake.
Looks can be deceiving,
I’m still just a fake.

Yes, it’s true.
Although I hate to nitpick,
A cow person I’m not,
Just a lil ol’ hick.

Good thing all are not quite so biased and will include essays and other forms in their published content. But, since you seem so "dead set" on it, here ya go.

Biff, the wrangler,
went out one day.
Ridin' his ol paint
roundin up strays.

He brought home a calf
wearin' another's brand.
His woman went wild!
Why? He just couldn't understand.

He watched in a-MAZE-ment
as she hog tied that calf,
ignorin' it's cries
as she traced round the brand.

Then she bellowed in a voice
that hit like a 2 x 4;
"Biff, you're a wrangler,
not a rustler, I know this for shore!"

"I strongly urge
you to cowboy up again
and take this one back
to his home pen."

Now, ol Biff,
he was stubborn with a strong
helping of pride
on the side.

Disgruntled and mumbling,
he saddled up to ride.
"Big mouthed woman", he grumbled,
As he caught her eye.

He leaned down to her,
as he passed by, for a kiss
and heard her whisper softly,
"Thank you, Biff, you're better than this."

Eh-hm, all cowboy poetry does not rhyme - I believe your describing Dr. Seuss.

nicely written and ya didn't even choke!

looking past what is before my eyes
past the obvious where deeper lies
finding connections' binding ties
sunken treasures slowly lift and rise

Not just you, sister! As you well know, a lot of things arouse my curiosity and then it progresses to "well, hmmm I wonder??????" I'm beginning to think I was born with a shovel in my hands

I feel like the oracle in the third Aladdin movie. Believe it or not, a slammed door will also "show you, THE WAY......" Ya back off, regroup, and next thing ya know, that Ta-Daaaa! moment is right there all up in yo face.
