Life is what I make it? I am happy with where I am, but I despise the rest of civilization on the basis of their inconsideration. I have made choices to better my life, I went through a recieved my GED, I have a job, social life could use work but I do have friends that I hang out with quite a bit...I have no problem, this is not what I see, I see the rest of the world with the problems. I look left, another person whom is only concerned with themselves, look right, another one. 1 out of every 10 people I see in a day makes the day brighter, 1 out of 10...so mathmatically 10 percent of the US's population actually cares about other people.

This bothers you why? Society as a whole has major issues...

Surround yourself with the ones that satisfy your desires. The rest you simply dont have to associate with, that is the beauty of being human and having a choice

I live in the society, we have kids growing up in this society. I don't associate with the people I don't like, but what about the larger impact that society will have.

Based on your math (which I would not disagree with) I'd say that you have 2 choices:

a) Spend the rest of your life trying to change that 90% of @ssholes into something more suitable to your liking.

OR

b) Realize that you are never going to change them and they are problably never going to change themselves. So, either avoid them altogether (which is what I do...I get in a lot less fights this way) or just be thankful that you are not like them.

That's what I try not to think about. If you think about that which you can not control, you will lose hope.

All you can do is make sure you do the best you can for yourself, be there to guide those who need guidance, and hope you make it out alright.

You don't have to live like them and you aren't according to what you've said thus far. For the other "90%" kick the dust from your shoes and walk away. Surround yourself with those who other "10%" and "have at" life.

Sounds like you are going in the right direction, but seriously, don't bring yourself down about the woes of the rest of society unless you plan on doing something about it.

As I see it, this post is your frustration of not feeling like you can and I hate to say this but you can't change the world. Take advantage of those who would care and don't let the others bite you in the ass.

All you can really do is be gratful for that one in ten. I do understand why you worry about the fate of mankind, though, when you perceive that only 10% actually care about the fate of their fellow man.

All each of us can do is try to make a difference in our own small way. One person at a time. Like you are doing now.flowerforyou

Thank youflowerforyou

As far as it goes I don't really reach for change as much as I reach for resolve. I have taken action anonymously, I have changed ideas with these actions, I've changed people. I didn't force things upon them but let them gradually understand the point that was being made. For every ten, one stopped and pondered the point, for every ten one thought about the point...for every ten only one saw past their own fog of belief in order to try and understand. The other nine scoffed, and turned away due to their own belief. That means one in ten people have ideas rather than beliefs, not to say beliefs are wrong as most people have them in order to reason with an issue...but when you can't take into account another perspective without hostility...your belief becomes a martyr.

I am glad to see the overall response from most on this topic, it has definatly opened a new idea for me to ponder. I will ponder this idea and see if I can reason with my issue. Again thank you all.flowerforyou
