Topic: Prayers..do they work?? | |
---|---|
OK this is for a certain person to debate the question
the question would be...Do prayers work, for what and how long? in other words...why does it seem God doesn't answer prayers fo some that really need it...and for others for small things make sense? |

Prayers most certainly do work. Sometimes we don't get the answer we want. Need to remember it is Gods will not mine.

Its not that he is not answering your prayers, it's because he has a plan for each and everyone of uss and if your prayer does not comply with his plan for you, then he won't answer it. Does that make any sense?

ok...this was started because of someone thanking God for a laptop that he was praying for and several jumped him about it.
is it not OK to pray for somethings??? No matter how petty it might seem to others???? and why did God grant him that instead of helping people in Africa (someone elses point) I brought this here because I thought this would be better to debate it and not a thread where someone was just saying ty and he's happy to God. Maybe people can get the answers they want in here from the debates |

Its ok to pray for anthing you want, just keep in mind, it doesn't always come true.
I've praying for my house to sell for 3 months now. I haven't even had one interested person. But I know there is a reason for this. Maybe it's not time for my house to sell because the right condo I would buy is not on the market yet?!? |

I think whenever a thread gets off track with a point that is valid but not related specifically to the original post (e.g., someone giving thanks for something and then a bigger picture being brought up) it is good (as rose did here) to begin a new thread so that the secondary issue can be properly discussed.

ok...so asking for things for yourself isn't bad? I personally didn't think so but... and since he hasn't made it here yet...I'll bring up his point. It is that people in Africa may pray but still suffer...why? |
|

those that pray and ask God to answer their prayers are actually going against God's judgement ..God has a devine plan and those that pray are asking God to deviate from his plan

interesting point of view funches..for once I won't argue with you since this is a debate thread for someone else

funches...can we just get married and live our lives fighting until we are old and gray???
|
|
|

god wants us to pray to him and ask him for things we need or want and for his help. he answers them when he he is ready to give us these things, and sometimes he answers them and people just dont see the answer. but we are his children and he wants us to depend on him for our wants, needs our love for him, and our faith in him to help us.

Theory on prayer~ You can look at it as guidance for the tenents in the serenity prayer.
We pray to gain understanding that in many things in life we cannot control what happens. That gives us peace and understanding and allows us to give up the control we'd like to have. If you pray~ you give up the right to worry because it is out of your hands. |
