ok my friend has a 1997 firebird formula v8
it has a modified 350 in it body is in great shape but it keeps blowing oil out the oil pan it has a stage 2 short shifter 6speed i was wonderin if any one could tell what would be a good price to offer him |

Since it has been modified, it has already lost value. Offer under blue book value.

Was the car prof. built... leaking out of the pan could be a gasket or pan is no-good..

What the hell is a "stage 2 short shifter"?????
The '97 F-Bodies are not holding value worth a damn. Plus..this oil pan thing is something to look into. Is the PCV valve stuck or not working? Is there excessive ring blow-by causing pressure in the pan that the pcv valve cannot overcome? You need to have a few diagnostic tests run on the car before deciding on a price. A simple compression test will give you a good idea as to the condition of the engine. Personally...I wouldn't give you $10 for one of those pigs. |

If it runs & drives with only a few things to do, I'd say your on the money.. I'm building a 1980 chev. malibu coupe this summer, trying to find a drivetrain now, good luck with the car bro......

i think i has 180thousand i drove the car its a fast car i took it down the interstate and had it to 130mph the oil leak isnt bad but you can notice it

if it is blowing oil, then the blow by's could be plugged or there is too much compression from the pistons, or possibly bad gaskets..............

the only thing a short shifter is less distance through the gears means fast shifts.... no no work has been done to it

if the car has blue smoke coming out of it when you get down on it, look for another car to buy.............
they come in three stages its just shorter shifts there usuall on tuner cars
noo theres no smoke at all comin out of it

blue book it then subtract 500 bucks for engine work! Pretty much standard budget for a rebuilt engine needs to be around $1500 these days. Yes...I ran my own engine business for five years. Cars like this Firebird were common. |
