No one should HAVE to change for anybody..and if you are asked to do so..you should tell them to get on the other side of the door and be careful to not get hit where the good lord split them..lol

Personal growth and change should be an ongoing thing for everyone. We all have things to learn about ourselves and sometimes it is not pretty, that does not mean that we cannot change it or improve and grow. It is healthier if we do self improvements, JMO of course.

Do you think a person change who they are without betraying who they are? Yes, for example a heroin addict can stop shooting up, and learn to be happy clean. |

Personal growth changes you! There's no betrayal!

I think we change every single day.
It may not be huge or noticable at the time... but look at some pictures... or read some old notes. Every day we experience SOMEthing that causes us to change in some minute way. Some people call it growing. Others call it dying. I just call it being alive. "The only thing in life that is constant is change." |

i am always trying to improve and change myself for the better. Definitely not betraying myself.

Do you think a person change who they are without betraying who they are? I believe a person's integrity and authenticity is unwavering.. However, growth can enhance the Who of that person... Whereas attempting to change, is only adding to the What of someone. I am interested in becoming more of the Who of me, and reducing the What of me... for in that I find my personal authenticity, and integrity. |

People grow and change all their lives. That's not betraying yourself. Now, if one were to change something of substance about oneself, to suit someone else, and not because it was natural for them, that might be considered betraying your own natural tendencies.

I don't think that personal growth and change would be a betrayal to yourself. It really depends on what you are changing and your reasons why, and what the exact change is. I think it's a bigger betrayal to keep lying to yourself rather than to admit to a weakness in your character and address it.
