just returned from the bank, someone managed to get my credit card info, charged over 2000 dollars on it in about 3 days, have cancelled that card and requested another with a new number, the good part is I am only responsible for the first 200 dollars of that amount.

I got a bill from my cell phone company (Sprint/Nextel) for $2000 a couple of weeks ago- apparently, some butthead out in Mobile, Alabama bought himself five REALLY expensive cell phones and put it all on my account. If that wasn't enough, dealing with the idiots in Sprint's customer service department was like talking to cow about the theory of relativity. Among one of the questions I asked was, "just HOW could you okay a purchase of that magnitude without first confirming it with the person whose name is on the account?", which was met with "duh... I dunno... *picks nose*" as a reply. Not only that, but I saw on the news that Sprint was the number THREE company with the worst record with regard to ID theft and fraud. I think Bank of America was number two on the list. So- among other things- you'll be taking your personal information into risk if you decided to go to Sprint for your cell service. As soon as my contract is up, I'm changing to another carrier. |

Hi Gearhead

I was a victim of identity theft, and caught it within two weeks.
I had to shut down all my credit. He got nothing. I caught it so fast. Then to top it off the place where I worked allowed me to access certain records, and so I did an investigation on this guy. Turns out he has done this before. I have all his information including his credit information and SS# I have over 300 pages on this guy and could not get the police to do anything. I am still going to go after this police department. |

How do you know you have his correct SSN and credit information. Couldn't it be someone else's? |
