I was a victim of identity theft, and caught it within two weeks.
I had to shut down all my credit.
He got nothing. I caught it so fast. Then to top it off the place where I worked allowed me to access certain records, and so I did an investigation on this guy. Turns out he has done this before. I have all his information including his credit information and SS#
I have over 300 pages on this guy and could not get the police to do anything.
I am still going to go after this police department.

How do you know you have his correct SSN and credit information. Couldn't it be someone else's?

Actually you could be right, and I thought about that, except it was for the fact he filled out for a credit report and his score sucked, and was denied credit.. and it was an address from a town where he started his crime.

well if it had been caught earlier I would have been responsible for nothing, under 1000 I owe nothing. over 1000 I owe 200 regardless of the amount, it could have been worse I understand a lot of banks hold you responsible for the full amount.

Sorry to hear that. I have been fortunate as of today, but it's a worry. My mother had some false charges and it took a lot of effort to get it fixed.flowerforyou

I had that happen to me except it was a debit card. ran my bank account down to $20 in a couple of hours. I had to wait 24 hours but I got all my money back. I do a much better job of safeguarding my cards and account numbers.
