It pays to know more than one language.......education is key. You can buy all sorts of programs to learn different languages and maybe even dl some for free on the net.....

The sad part is that there is huge competition out there and if you know more than one language it will sometimes get you over the edge of the competition.

I noticed while I was in South America and some of my own south american friends know at least 5 languages.flowerforyou

i live in america! so why then do 80% of the jobs i am applying for or qualify for require that i am bilingual???? if i chose to move to another country i certainly would not expect that the country change their language to cater to me and then their own people who speak their native language can not get a job because they do not speak my language. i find this EXTREMELY irritating. i am not racist. my daughter is 1/2 spanish. but again, i dont get it!

everyone has different opinions and i respect that completely. we cant all agree all the time. sometimes someone else's point of view adds a different twist on how you view something. its not just about the employment issue. me, working within the system and knowing how it operates, also annoys me that americans are not entitled to the same benefits as others from other countries, even more annoying is the illegal immigrants that are using such benefits. our needy from our own country can not get the help they need. our elderly and vets are not being taken care of as they should be, yet someone here illegally can! just me ranting today...pms has kicked in so i had to pick a subject to beotch about hahaha

It's very sad. I was next door yesterday & he has even applied at fast food places just get get something until he finds a real job & doesn't get hired because he's not bi lingual.

As Robin Williams speech comes to mind...

Our for fathers had to learn ENGLISH when they came threw Ellis Island..
