Should telecommunications companies receive immunity for their participation in government surveillance programs?

What are your thoughts?

The government forces them to comply by court order... they have no choice...

The government should charge them:

.25 for line access fees.
.67 for telephone pole usage fees
1.24 for internal metal hook thingy fees
3.78 for the privilege of letting them use caller ID.

I could go on and on.

I loathe phone companies.

And...

For one, the telephone companies are all regulated by the feds... its called the FCC... Federal Communication Commission...

It works like this...

1) The feds or the local cops go to a judge and get a court order for a wire tap, etc...

2) when the judge (part of the government, remember...) gives his OK... the order is sent to the engineering department at the telephone company...

3) by this court's order, the company must comply, or be in violation of FCC regulations.. (umm... the same government)...

And we live in a free country, right?

Not...

The telephone company is just another pawn for the gubermints to play with...

Now that you know how it works, you can throw your blame somewhere else...

Yes. Unless they volunteer private information of their own accord first. Then no.

I think telecommunications companies should never be immune from following the Constitution (LAW OF THE LAND) And they should pay the consequences if they violate the Constitution!(violate our Bill of rights)I don't think our govt(servants to the people) can or even has any say or rights to take the rights of(WE THE PEOPLE)us away.

If the govt orders you to kill your neighbors : are you going to listen and obey? And say: well, the govt ordered me to do it? This all has to do with holding the govt accountable.

Are you going to listen to everything, everybody tells you to do?

When are we ever going to be concerned about doing what is right, instead of doing what we are told by despots, and dictators?

We going to have to stand up someday, because these Zionists are not used to taking NO for an answer, but they will have to learn the meaning of NO!!

If we don't teach them, then Russia, China and the other Nations will, but it will be at our expense, too.(maybe cost most of our lives)

Sometimes the government has to do things like "invade privacy" in order to gather useful intelligence. So i don't mind them tapping our communications. The phone companies probably agreed. Our mistake is trying to put in writing whether or not it's allowed. I think they should continue to do what they need while keeping things on the down-low, like they have been. However, by passing laws allowing them to do such things they will have full power to use and abuse it. And you know they will. We are totally screwing ourselves by even bringning this topic up right now. Only when it becomes a huge problem should we try to pass laws on it so they can do what they need to (while fearing public opinion), and we can still have our privacy laws on the backburner as a security net. This is how checks and balances work.

I think eventually, this country will end in a revolution, just like all governments do and have ended... the only thing to determine is when... could be in our lifetime... could be in 100 more years... but eventually, America will cease to exist...

The Roman Empire is gone... (so much for Caesar)
The Greek Empire is gone... (so much for Alexander the "Great")
The Persian Empire is gone... (so much for Xerxes...)
The Egyptian Empire is gone... (so much for the Pharoahs)
and let's not forget in our day...
The Soviet Union is gone... (so much for Marx)

America has her day of death, too... its just a matter of time... and it doesn't matter who listens in on who, when, where or how... its gonna pass away...

Then all the nationalistic BS tongue waggling by patriotic Constitution-loving idots will mean zippo....

Yes. Unless they volunteer private information of their own accord first. Then no.

Given the right amount of time, I can go into numerous telecommunications databases, and glean any amount of personal information I choose about private individuals. That is part of my job as an engineer. Where people live, where they work... what is their social security number... what their mother's maiden name is (at times)... what their employer's job number is (the number you give somebody when you are building your house, and somebody needs to contact you... whichever number you give...)

Plus I will know what cable brings telephone service to your house... and every pole and splice point between the central office and your house.

This has all existed since the beginning of the telephone system... so wake up , people... you have never had any privacy in the first place...

American people tend to live in some kind of Utopian la-la land... and they believe what the media tells them is the truth...

They have this false faith in the laws, as if they actually give them freedoms... but yet they exist behind an imaginary geographical boundary kept in place by judgment and force, and a very strong military, that will act out against the people (think Waco, Texas, or the civil rights violations during Hurricane Katrina... cops/feds. etc... went house to house confiscating private property... namely weapons people were using to defend themselves against looters...)

This is "freedom"...

NOT...

It is only a percentage of what true freedom could one day be...

It is a process of development that will one day end... as the next government takes over the land mass...

America is NOT eternal...

Neither is the Constitution...

Neither is any government on the face of the planet...

People tend to want an eternal view of their patriotic ideals... but it is a farce... because no government endures forever, all governments end...

There will never be peace as long as there is an imaginary geographical boundary in place to kill people for... kill them for trying to enter by force... enforce imprisonment or just throw your arms up in the air and give up when they storm the borders illegally... the border is the problem... it presents an ancient philosophy of ownership that has been outdated for over a thousand years... but will last several thousand more...

Because typically, in order to BE in power, man has to have a piss-ant society underneath him to control... typically... "We the Piss-ant People"... they tax the crap out of them, then build war machines and killing devices that supposedly are in place to fend off the opposition, but as we see in Waco, Texas, will and can be used to kill the citizenry INSIDE the borders...

You want to drivel on about somebody peeping into your telephone... bah...

They have Hubble telescopes that can see light years into the universe... have you ever asked yourself what stops them (and NASA, etc..) from looking up your nose with one of these things pointed toward Earth?... but they can't "find" Osama bin Laden.... yeah right... biggest bunch of horse crap they've fed us since the weapons of mass destruction crap...

peeping...

over phones lines... you're worried about that?...

they've been able to do it since there WAS a phone line... they could even intercept telegraph transmission... where were the people up in arms about that back in the day? Was the railroad held accountable for allowing gubermint access to the telegraph?

its all a way to whine about crap that makes no difference...

you can't change it... you never will be able to change it until your nuclear warhead is bigger than their's... and its senseless to even debate it...

but as we stare at the computers they gave us... and entertain ourselves with the same box... it is a creative conversation, mixed in with thousands of other vain conversations that we all speak on the way to the grave...

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Mr Telephoneman, I hate to admit but you are probably a whole lot right on most of what you said, Those Zionists and TALMUDISTS, and SATANISTS just might completely overthrow us, like THEY did those other civilizations that you listed, But I am going to hang on to hope that the Zionists and TALMUDISTS, and SATANISTS will LOSE THIS TIME!!! I really believe we have a chance this time. This is America ,Land of Heaven, don't give up your guns just YET!!!

well, SMO, got my weapons all cleaned and loaded, ready for whatever S hits the fan... haha... the trick today is buying ammo... the "Clinton Idea" was to scare the crap out of everybody, threaten their way of life at home, get them to fear tyranny, then shove the price of fine weapons out of the reach of the common man... now, the "Bush Push" is to shove the price of the surplus stockpile of ammo out of the reach of the common man... (with no ammo, the guns are useless...) used to be, a case of ammo for my AK-47 was about $80-$90... now its more like almost $200.. and the stuff for my bigger bore stuff is like $500 a case... cripes...

on top of being a communications expert, and knowing my way around the telco databases... I can hold my own in hand-to-hand combat, and a multitude of small arms weapons... the first thing to get hit in warfare is usually the communications... there is a reason for this... beyond being scared that somebody is peeking at you through their telephone line microscope...

all the fire departments, hospitals, police departments, etc etc etc run through the same telephone company central office... control the communication system... control the people...

that's why the CIA has such an interest in controlling the (cough cough) "free press"... its the propaganda machine that drives the masses... tune in to CNN/NBC/CBS/ABC/FOX, etc... during any world event, and get programmed what to think... during 9-11, I heard the news reports transform from "a plane just got shot down over Pennsylvania"... to "some wild-a$$ed story of a few people who drove their own plane into the ground to prevent terrorist hijacking"...

bring it on, whatever the hell it is... turn the country upside down and inside out... go ahead and force people to get microchips under their skin or their forehead or whatever... I'll be back in the mountains somewhere living off the land... about the time the grocery stores permanently close, and the new order flavor of the day decides to starve the people into submission, etc etc etc... best ti learn how to clean your own game and harvest your own garden of veggies now... because when the S hits the fan... there'll be no time for runnin' around... bend over and kiss it good bye...

and we're worrying about somebody peeping at me through the phone lines? ha....

they been doing that since Alexander Graham Bell invented the thing... do you honestly think the government didn't have their hands in to the telco business from the start? Its called "a breech of national security"... and every new technology has been scrutinized by the gubermint first... then allowed to the public...

even Velcro was Top Secret at one time.... hahahaha

here's a really good point... remember when the electrical power went out all across the northern and eastern side of the USA about 4-5 years ago... New York City was completely out of power... it stretched all the way from New York, all the way to here in Michigan...

Ok, here's a trivia question... can somebody tell me WHY the power went out?

First they tried to buffalo the people by telling them it was a bad weather storm over Niagra Falls (which they released in a hurry, without first checking the weather reports... according to a quick look at The Weather Channel it was bright and sunny, and had been for over a week over Niagra Falls... oops... duh...) Then they had a couple other c0ck-a-mamee stories... but guess what... they weathered it out long enough, and mixed up everybody so much... that nobody can tell me today what caused that huge power outage...

I can speculate pretty accurately... it was a terrorist attack... and they didn't want us to know that it was a terrorist attack on such a thing as power...

If not, then somebody please post what the reason was for the power going out across several MILLION square acres of the US?

They were so effective at using the propaganda machine, that they (the gubermint) swept this entire spot of history under the rug... did you ever read George Orwell's 1984?... where they would blot out certain things that didn't agree with their Big Brother mind set or "newspeak"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newspeak

so.....

bring it on, whatever the hell it is... turn the country upside down and inside out... go ahead and force people to get microchips under their skin or their forehead or whatever...

Basically, my thoughts.
