I don't self protect and perhaps I should. Rejection is hard to take but I have grown tuff skin on here.
I've learned we grow out of our hurts. When we are happy and content, there is no growth. So, if I fall in love and get hurt, I try to learn from it but will always be vulnerable falling in love. Just those few precious moments makes up for all the other hurts.

This is a perfect topic for me. Yes I do. Ive had this conversation with many friends recently, because people take interest in me and I ward them off or avoid them. Happened last night actually, I was all ready to try to let the wall down for what I thought was a great guy. Then he "disclosed" that he has a wife at home. Good thing I didnt let that wall down. |

This is a perfect topic for me. Yes I do. Ive had this conversation with many friends recently, because people take interest in me and I ward them off or avoid them. Happened last night actually, I was all ready to try to let the wall down for what I thought was a great guy. Then he "disclosed" that he has a wife at home. Good thing I didnt let that wall down. Exactly.

I've been "self-protecting" on and off for the past 9 years. It is hard to trust again.
I can understand the need to surrender to it, to experience fully. Unfortunately, I also remember only too well the pain of betrayal and abandonment, loss. I teeter back and forth these days. Do I dive in completely? Or do my toes just skim the water and wait. Opportunities for beauty can be lost in the waiting, I agree. |

I tend to give my all. ....Have to learn to reserve a bit without compromising what I have to offer - the best of what makes me, me.

Its a scary place out there in love land!

I think, each expereince we have in this mere mortal world is a lesson. Some are painful, but love is the joy,,a "gift". How silly it would be to build walls around avoidance of that gift. I mean, after all,,who would you be hurting?
