well my cat that i am watching for 4 months does not want to use the litter box.the other day it used the bed and did no 1 and 2 on it.so i remembered that it does not like scented litter so i got the stuff it likes.well it is a fat cat and i have the litter box down stairs so it is not in the livening area i am thinking that it does not want to walk all the way down their because today i found out it used the couch that had a blanket.it likes to cover it up with the blanket .so now i have the bedrooms doors closed and the litter box on the main floor.no blankets any ware.i have the basement door shut.do you think it will use the litter box.should i put the cat in the bathroom for a few days with litter box and food. i have never had a cat do this.it is lol at me can anyone help!!!!!!!

Have you taken the cat to the vet? Do you have other cats?

I've never had a cat do this either, but you might want to call a vet and see if this is a sign of something going on medically?

put the cat outside if it's going to insist on wrecking all your stuff. I have a friend whose cat used to piss all over everything, they had to get rid of the cat.

no i have not taken it to the vet.it just moved here with its friend .i took in two cats and am watching them for 4 months.i all ready had one so 3 is not bad it is for my daughter she loves her cats she is 6

This sounds like what happened to my friend's cat. The poor thing had a problem where he couldn't make it to the litter in time. Hey, that cat may be fine and is just lazy to get to the litter. If he/she's fine, I'd put a diaper on him/her. Or, take those plastic carpet mats, turn it on its spiky side, and place it on your furniture. Keeps the pets off (or should).

Some cats don't like sharing litter boxes, get another litter box and see if the cat uses it.

i will try another box

lock it in the bathroom with the litter tray and food.once it uses it and puts its scent on ltll go back and use it again.put a bed in the bathroom as well so its comfortable.it will work, i have 3 cats and thats how i got them house trained.my newest cat wud pee on my sons bed when i wasnt home as he got scared and it was his way of showing me.he sleeps on my bed so he wont mess on his own bed hence why he did it on my sons.cats sometimes do this to mark their territory.do the bathroom thing and itll work, i promise you!! and yeah if theres more than one cat then get another litter tray..cats dont like sharing and wont use a dirty tray

Thats all I can say also. Try another box. I have only one cat. my brother has 5, he had to get 5 boxes! maybe that is your problem. They don't really like to share anyway!

Hi John, I would try 1 litter box per cat, many don't like sharing. Keep them all very clean. Calling the vet would be a good idea also. Is it nutered? Is the cat maybe feeling the need for attention? Is it "marking" spots you frequently sit?

I have 3 cats & a dog, the dog won't allow 1 of the cats on my bed, it's like sibling rivalry. I have to keep the bedroom door closed, because the dog will pee on the bed if she smells that cat has been on it.

i had to switch food one cat was throwing up.i will try mor litter boxes they are all spayed . it does not mark ware i sit. i think it is fat and lazy . box litter box thing wight fix it
