Topic: The Happiest Man on Earth | |
---|---|
There once was a king who had more money than he knew what to do with. He owned all of the land as far as the eye could see, several castles, and he ruled his land with an iron fist. But no matter how much he had, he never seemed to have enough and was a very miserable man.
One day he told his servant, “I want you to go out and scour the land, from one horizon to the other, and find the happiest man on earth, and bring me his shirt. Once I have the shirt of the happiest man, I will be able to be happy myself. I don't want you to return without that shirt or you will be beheaded.” The servant set out about his mission and was gone for many moons. The king was getting impatient as he waited and waited. Finally, after many months of searching, the servant returned, on hands and knees, crawling before the king. The king noticed the servants hands were empty and became very angry. He told the servant that he had one minute before he was to be beheaded and he had better explain why he had disobeyed his orders. With tears in his eyes, the servant looked to the king and said “Master, I did as you said, I searched from horizon to horizon looking for the happiest man on earth, and I finally found him.” So the king asks, “Why didn't you bring me the shirt of this man?” The servant replied, “Master, the happiest man on earth did not own a shirt.” Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” |

Can you think of anyone in all your churches that doesn't own a shirt? |

When I read the story it eerily reminded me of the biblical God. Always wanting to be the king of kings and have everyone bow and worship at his feet. Yet never seeming to be happy and no one can ever do good enough for him, for all have fallen short of his glory.

Well if it isn't the antichrist of abra & rabbit. Thank you guys for viewing my post; it's always good to at least hear from the 'peanut gallery'. I'm sure you did read the verse at the end? I find it a good thing to help the lost. GOD bless you guys.

Why does an observation of logic versus blind adoration of this God always have its followers accusing the logical observer of being the antichrist? Would that mean that anyone who thought Jesus was a Blasphemer be an antichrist - based on the word itself apparently. Interesting that antichrist always get pulled out when its God being questioned, why aren't they called an Anti-God?

Mathhew 13:14-17 (NLT)
...
You will hear my words, but you will not understand; you will see what I do, but you will not perceive its meaning. For the hearts of these people are hardened. and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes- so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them. "But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. I assure you many prophets and godly people have longed to see and hear what you have seen and heard, but they could not." |

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Okay so I read the story and I read the verse and I still do not see the point. I am the happiest person on the planet and I do have a shirt on. I have inside of me a light of love and respect of great proportion and it has nothing to do with a book, church or shirt...lol. So point being? Is there a great lesson here? |

I'm sure you did read the verse at the end? Of course I read the verse at the end. Thus the justification for my comments. So what’s the justification for yours?,… Well if it isn't the antichrist of abra & rabbit.
Just thought I’d add,… If you understood your own religion you’d know that it would be impossible for either myself or rabbit to be the antichrist. The antichrist will come in the name of Jesus. The antichrist will claim to be a Christian! Thus neither rabbit nor myself qualify. If you’re looking for the antichrist look to religious fundamentalists. The antichrist will be a preacher of the gospel! At least according to this biblical mythology. |

So point being? My dear Dragoness, I think you should reread your past quotes to me & notice the bitternes you have. Just look at the latest one on the IQ test, for example. You certainly can't be the happiest person on earth. I just feel you have some coveredup hurt inside that needs to be addressed. Is there a great lesson here? |

So if you're not for then you are against, thus anti. and you're not for CHRIST as you & rabbit have well voiced. Can you grasp it? |

Maybe they just see things differently.

I was referring to the description in the mythology, but I see you use the term differently. By the way, you're certainly wrong in your conclusions. I'm not against Christ in the slightest. The spirit of Christ lives in my heart. You simply don't understand is all. You're jumping to conclusions about people you really know nothing about. If you tell people that I'm 'against' Christ then you would be lying to them. So don't do that unless you enjoy lying. |

My dear Dragoness, I think you should reread your past quotes to me & notice the bitternes you have. You certainly can't be the happiest person on earth. If I weren't so annoyed I might be speechless... I just feel you have some coveredup hurt inside that needs to be addressed. I do healing work ... you show me someone who doesn't ... Looked under your own hood lately? Holy cow ... that is about the most judgmental post I've seen in awhile ... thank goodness you are a Christian or that might be hurtful... |

Not all christians are judgmental. |

I would have to say that Christ had two very clear messages 1) The poor need to be cared for 2) He was the most powerful being in the whole universe, atomic weapons, machine guns, tanks, stealth fighters, smart bombs, armies by the millions, all at his finger tips. He let people, outsiders to his lands, wrongfully accuse him, take everything he owns, threaten his friends and family, whip him, torture him, and nail him to a cross without fighting back. He turned the other cheek. So that no matter how much you mess up his story no one can ignore the basic truth of his passivity. That Jesus's I am not anti about |
