How come some of the people with the most vile sense of humour, barest
knowledge of compassion, and the loosest interpretation of loyalty and
fidelity are in the longest relationships? Do you have to be a super
con artist in order to get/ maintain interest now?

Some people have a way of making you think you can't do any better than
them... my ex, for instance, had me gridlocked in our relationship for
5 years. Why? Because I wanted to believe what she told me, even when
I knew it was bullshit. I forgave her for things she did over and over
and over.... when I should have probably just left. I made excuses for
her rather than realizing the truth which was that she was an
over-obsessive-self-absorbed-selfishly-cruel-childlike-man-hater.

Gee... it's true what they say... I DO feel better... LOL ;)

In answer to the question though, I'd say you need to give it time.
Time to find the missing piece... time to examine it... and finally time
to put it together. I've waited over a year to find my piece. Not
through lack of choices... heh... I don't do one nighters.... but I have
finally met mine. Here through this site, in fact. Didn't see it
coming, and she didn't either. But here we are planning to fly me up to
see her, and the strong possiblity that I will be staying. I found
her.... I examined her...(she is a damn good con if she is conning
me...love you sweetie if you're reading this...)...and am moving to the
stage of putting it all together.
