The U.S. Customs Service opened a special department where companies can file claims. As of July 31, more than 252,000 applications had been received from all over the world.
These account for 129 billion dollars in refunds, which are currently being processed or have already been paid out.

Philips was the first Dutch company to publicly report receiving 186 million euros. Those millions are the beginning of a larger flow.
It is estimated that the ten largest Dutch exporters to the United States could collectively receive more than 1 billion euros back.

And that's just the Dutch. Go figure how much the US will have to cough up in total!

As someone said, Trump is an imbecile.
And now he has come up with a new thing since July 24 to continue charging EU countries 10%-12%.

And clearly some Americans still don't get that they are the ones who pay for this as things will be more expensive for them.

Plus all the billions that have to be refunded... AND the costs of getting that sorted alone will have to be paid by the American people, the taxpayers.
How the hell you people voted him into office, twice, is beyond me.

The American voters were promised a completely different President Trump. And the fact that the other leading candidate was a woman (gasp) who pledged to increase income taxes on billionaires. Trump, on the other hand, promised tax cuts for billionaires and eliminate regulations on fossil fuels, making those billionaires kick into overdrive their efforts to influence the elections. They poured hundreds of $millions into Democratic voter intimidation, and Republican propaganda. Elon Musk turned Twitter into an echo chamber for Trump and Mark Zuckerberg did likewise for Facebook. And even with all that, Trump barely won after millions fewer Democratic voters voted than had the previous election.
