Topic: "Share location" message from Mingle means? | |
---|---|
Logged in today to a new message from Mingle stating something about do I wish to share my location for "better security and matches".
Can anyone explain what exactly they mean by this? I am thinking its some sort of behind the scenes thing where they automatically "match" others nearby without you actually having to seek others out. Then, they use this info to entice you to pay for an upgraded membership to "unlock" these matches. Is this what this is all about? Thanks. |

I think you're right... it'll be something along those lines.
It's damn annoying that the only choice is share or remind later. When logging in from a PC it'll pick up your broadband provider's location anyway not your actual location, so it can be miles off. I guess they never thought of that, or they just assume everyone is on mobile, which they are not. |

Isn't location already on your profile?

If your honest, yes. The dishonest ones are never going to accept some real location anyway.

I think the new location request has to do with the heart shaped magnifying glass with location icon inside it, shown as pic of person who viewed you in the recent activity section, demonstrating they have okayed the location request.

I email a few people on the site without viewing their profile. Yet, I still see the magnifying glass.
I know they would not accept the location request. I know I will not. |

I use the website on a PC and don't seem to have or see this "heart shaped magnifying glass with location icon inside" thingy. Oh well, no big deal really. Thanks for the replies

Isn't location already on your profile? The location referred to in the popup could also be the one gleaned from the client's IP address seen by Mingle2 server, which may or may not be the same one in the profile. |
