You feel horny in the morning and not at night, hence morning wood. Even little boys wake up with erect penis. And not sometimes, but always. LOL. what you are referring to (in many cases ) is a reflex action and not always associated with desire .

Pats the couch … come sit closer and I will share a secret There are many triggers for feeling horny and there is likely some truth to the generalisation that men feel perpetually horny . Could have something to do with a fear that if their penis is inactive it will atrophy . But I am not a psychologist hope you find the answer to your question

Personally I think the reason is that we are in Alpha brainwaves in the evening, deeper Alpha the later at night, until we go to bed. This makes us more relaxed as opposed to the Beta brainwaves of the day when we're mostly run by stress hormones. Also, the term morning wood doesn't seem to be entirely correct ---> in the quizzes on a dating site loads of men as "What can I wake you up for at night?" So I guess for many it's "night wood", not morning wood.

Me, I figure this way: 1] my mind is cleared, and is now more receptive, since the days worries are behind me; 2] night time is when couples are more physically intimate (if they share the same bed) than during the day, so as adults in relationships, we are somewhat trained by this familiar activity. Just my 2 cents.
