What was your best roadtrip, or is on your bucket list? |

Road trips are my favourite
Best trip was in Cape Town. There is a route that goes along the ocean and through the Table Mountain tunnel. (Ocean on one side and mountain on the other for awhile until you surrounded only by the mountain scape) The best thing was that the destination was the wine festival. So we stayed overnight for the weekend and attended wine tasting at the vineyards. You have to purchase a wine glass and the rest includes free wine-tasting with the farmers filling the glass. No driving allowed by those who drink. Return day and roadtrip back to Cape Town with cost price crates of wine in the back. I'm always incharge of making a music playlist for the ride, which is a couple of hours. So much fun, so much fun! |

I love meeting new people and exploring. |

Though I don't live in the US, I've always wanted to go on a cross-country road trip across the States

On my bucket list is a cross country ghost hunting road trip that ends in Alcatraz Island in San Francisco. Supposed to be very haunted.

Drove a corvette from the midwest to the west coast and back. Fun trip. Next is old route 66 to the southwest.

I loved every single roadtrip I've ever been on! That's my thing. I've been cross country 4 times east coast to west coast and back, in The United States, where I live. The first time was when I was 11-years-old. That was great, being the first.

I once drove from Virginia Beach, VA to Atlanta, Georgia for a milkshake and cheeseburger.
It wasn't about the food it was a fun drive with people I enjoyed being with. One of my favorite road trips was when the kids were lil we all went on a Christmas road trip looking at lights and decorations. We ended up at Way of Lights - National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows http://snows.org/events-2/way-of-lights/ Directions to the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows 442 S. DeMazenod Dr., Belleville, IL 62223 (Located on IL State Highway 15 east) We all rode the horse drawn carriage and the kids took a camel ride. Utterly beautiful. |

I've enjoyed many roadtrips!
One was all the way through Java, from Jakarta in the west where we lived, to the east, then crossing to Bali :) I've done that trip a few times, once by myself with public transport (part train, part bus). Travelling to Irian Jaya, and although not all by car and on the road, it was one helluva trip! Papua men in penis gourds, women in reed skirts etc. One evening there was upheaval very close to our lodge -no proper walls, just woven leaves and bamboo stands- and a group of men in penis gourds, sticks through their nose piercing, holding large spears came direction us in a marching run. QUite something when you're literally in the middle of nowhere in a dense forest. Seeing them approach was quite something, they were PO for sure! The excuse of a wall from woven leaves did little to feel truly safe, hihi. They weren't PO with us thank goodness but the Javanese that oppressed them. No electricity, no running water, no warm water to shower, nothing. A bath meant throwing water with a plastic sauce pan over you, the water freezing cold!! I've rarely had worse 'showers', hihi. Nevertheless I did have a marvellous time there! Roadtrips in Australia, from Darwin to Kakadu nation park & back. Then Darwin down to Mataranka. That was in a camper with my mom and stepfather. Later on I went by myself by coach from Darwin to Alice Springs, then on to Uluru where I lived with and worked for the Aboriginals for 6 months. Now the Uluru part in the Aboriginal community was a life altering experience! The love for that place and its people runs deeper than any love can run. Different. I had more roadtrips in Australia, all had their charm! Uluru --> Adelaide --> Melbourne --> Sydney -- Brissy --> Townsville --> back to Darwin. Met a lot of people, saw a lot of places. Australia is simply amazing! ON THE BUCKETLIST: - Touring through Scotland!! I'd love to have a couple of weeks for that so I can see everything I want and also drop in on Delightful - Travelling in the US at some point. Definitely will start in New Orleans! |

Oh don't get me started! Lots of trips aboard my Gold Wings. Out west, down south, just day rides.
I did three Mystery rides for my now defunct chapter. One down to south east Ohio where I took them down the Dragon's tail. Another one, in Southeast Illinois. We crossed over the Mississippi, rode along it to Winfield, Mo. The pavement ended on the edge of the Mississippi river. I pulled up at the very best time. All I heard was gripes about having to turn around. (I got that several times) Nobody knew it, at the time. I shouted to them,"Our Ride is coming!" Up came the Windfield Ferry, for a car ferry ride across the Mississippi. So, 16 Wings rode aboard, and we crossed the Mississippi in style. We rode around Calhoon county for a while, then up to Harden, IL., to the Miss Illinois, the only working car ferry on the Illinois river. It was the first trip that made me Mystery ride co-coordinator. I managed to sell them on my skills later on that year, when our chapter leader took us down to the Ohio River. He got lost, and was going to take us back 30 miles to a bridge across the Ohio. I stopped him, told the group to just ride four miles upto the Markland Dam bridge, he didn't know about. A few times I led our rides, I GOT lost! I kept my yapper shut! Three separate times, they never knew I was lost! I just knew if I rode in one specific direction, I'd trip over my road I was looking for, and I did. One year, I rode to Florida on just state highways,NO interstates.(From Northern Indiana) I found out the road I picked, was the route of the worlds longest yardsale. Four hours to travel 100 miles. (US 127) I wouldn't trade any of my road trips. Each has been different. I bet I've ridden over dozens of covered bridges. One of my yearly rides takes me to Dunn's Bridge. That one, is a bridge that was originally built from the Ferris Wheel from the Chicago World's fair. One place called Jungle Park, I rode past several times, I never knew what it was. Turns out, it was one of the most dangerous car race tracks in Indiana. During it's time, it had killed about 10 drivers, and several spectators. I've seen Rabbit Hash, Ky., Hell, Mi. China, In., rode Road Rd., seen the last surviving Hudson car dealership. Been on a Y bridge.(That has a stop light in the middle of it) Yeah, road trips are fun. |

The last good road trip was a few years ago. I went down into Nevada. Stayed at a haunted hotel. Went into south Utah, and had one of the best cinnamon rolls ever. Spent a week in Arizona driving around, avoiding all the cities. Went back north through Utah.

Highway 101 on the Oregon Coast was a great trip. very scenic when not fogged over. Also gives you a chance to stop and say high to Soufiehere if you know her...
Also, Highway 1 from Monterey CA to Santa Barbra CA is beautiful. |

That looks like Santa's Wonderland that we have here in College Station TX. I drove carriages there a couple years ago. I usually drove a team of Percharons. Wish I had the pictures |
