Thank you, DelightfuL! Hope for you it's snow only!!
Public transport isn't operating here either this afternoon. It's slowly building up, but not really bad yet. But it's supposed to strike real fast. I got 3 straps on the gates, car is parked around the corner, I checked the garage. Nothing more I can do but keep my fingers crossed. My girl had to cross the bridge to go home this afternoon just before 3. I had already told her it wasn't smart during a real bad storm. But she's so damned headstrong! I was worried, hoping a colleague would convince her to go home early. She phoned me just after noon to let me know that she was already on her way home! I was SO relieved!! Advice is to not travel at all unless absolutely necessary, and certainly avoid bridges, and this one spans 6-7 kms from island to island, basically a stone-throw from the open sea. But my girlie is safe!! Right now it's almost unreal to think we're going to be hit by a vicious storm within an hour? Oh well... fingers crossed that all will still be standing when it's done! |

Holy moly, this is NOT funny
The sun is shining, as forecast but the wind... This is worse than Ciara we had in 2020 or 2019! And 5 more hours of this (the peak) to go, bloody hell! |

I sympathise with you. Nothing you can do but ride it out sadly. Hoping you come out the other unscathed. Despite the prediction of heavy snow we havenβt had any! Iβm grateful for that. Itβs just very windy but not stormy here. |

Itβs just very windy but not stormy here. Oh gosh, every time when I think it's getting a li'l better it gets worse again... We just even got a National Alert via SMS (text). That has NEVER happened before... What I was thinking, how ridiculous government is. Telling people to work at home because of a virus that isn't really all that deadly, but when something happens that IS acutely dangerous they do NOT tell people to go home/stay home/work from home. Anywho... 3,5 more hours than the peak should be over and normal storm force. But seriously, this is INSANE! Seen a lot of storms since I moved here 9,5 years ago, but never anything like this... |

No, once in a lifetime is enough, hihi.
I guess it's (been) pretty much the same as in England. I put on a movie, like I had planned, so I don't hear the wind so much. Cooking was also good in that sense as the extractor's noise cancel's out much of the wind too. So far so good though! Everything's still standing. Fingers crossed that it'll keep for the 3,5 hrs of the peak that are left. . Basically halfway through that now. Then it should get a little less, more like regular storm. And I'm SO happy this peak was during the day. Had in been at night I wouldn't have slept much. |

Well, we're out of Code Red now! There's still a storm with strong gusts but now more regular level.
And... everything is still standing!! I can NOT believe it! The neighbours fence, which also borders my garden of course, is also still upright even though I've never seen it move like it did in this storm. I had actually expected that to go. A few people have died in the storm, 3 because of falling trees. Lots of damage, fencing, part of roofs, roof tiles flying round, accidents because of trucks blowing over etc. etc. Urgent request to not call 112 (Dutch 999) unless there was danger of lives because calling centres couldn't handle it anymore. Anywho, we should've had the worst of it, phew!! Tomorrow I'll check if all the screws etc. are still okay and if my car got through undamaged. It's around the corner so I cannot see and I'm not going out now in the dark while there is still a storm. |

Phew, that water was really high up in your area!
Happy to hear it's over for you there and you successfully weathered 3 storms. I read S England had 196 kmph gusts!! Way off the Beaufort chart, insane! Here we had 145 during Eunice which is also of the Beaufort. Over here we still got some hours to go. Wind should die down end afternoon/evening. Then tomorrow it'll pick up again but more regular storm force (hopefully!). Everyone's totally fed up with it, even the Zeeuwen, the people from this province, that usually quite like hard wind. Over here also lot of accidents with trucks, esp during Eunice. I don't understand why they hit the road when people were clearly told to not go out unless strictly necessary. If you say something about that you get a lot of flak, as if they're sacred, but I feel it's totally insane. It means rescue workers have to risk their lives to sort out the mess, other people in traffic are endangered by it, damaged trucks etc. etc. One trucker got badly injured and ended up in hospital. Then WTH drive through that weather? 4 people have died due to the storms, I believe all cos of falling trees. Anywho, let's hope this was it for this year. Or the next 5, haha. OT - 9C currently blue skies and sun while the storm is still raging. |
