11C Sun & blue sky and some clouds. Wind will pick up in the afternoon and get stormy. So I too will have to strap up my gates. Better safe than sorry I reckon. Storm Malik is heading your way I believe and Storm Malik was named by the Danes too We have a code yellow for the northern provinces, none for here in the SW. We will get strong wind and storm gusts though so a bit weird. Maybe they figure we always have that over here anyways, so why make it code yellow The wind is already picking up, I can hear it and I looking at the hydrangea... it looks like it is clenching it roots to hold on, haha. I guess it means I will have to go out soonish to strap it up. Thank goodness the wind should get calmer in the evening. I don't like sleeping with wind howling around the house. But I think maybe you will get to take the brunt of it. Hopefully all you’ll get is strong wind. Earlier, I looked out the window and I saw 3 of my neighbours bins and flower tubs blow away but as I’ve got a 6’ tall fence the wind isn’t as bad in my garden. My friend was here a week ago and he helped to secure my fence to the posts by using screws instead of nails and that’s helped heaps. Pretty sure my fence would have been down by now if he hadn’t done that. As you know, I’m in the west but the east of Scotland will bear the brunt of the storm with winds there blowing 60-80 miles per hour. I think this is to last until Monday. Already my daughter’s internet is down. |

As you know, I’m in the west but the east of Scotland will bear the brunt of the storm with winds there blowing 60-80 miles per hour. I think this is to last until Monday. Already my daughter’s internet is down. Someone I know who lives a few streets from me once came home, venting online that 2 of her flowerpots had been nicked. But they had blown away by the storm we'd had that afternoon, haha. Nails are no good at all, certainly not in windy areas. Every now and then I check all the screws on the gates. One time a screw had snapped (it hadn't been all the way in either as I couldn't get that done) but I prefer to keep a bit of an eye on it, just in case. The fencing, some 13 meters, is for the neighbours to worry about as it's theirs. I think just over 2 meters high. Higher than usual as it's the type with concrete strips along the bottom to prevent rot in this wet area, and concrete stands between which wooden fencing screen are screwed into place. These are the most solid types of fencing, but it does move a bit when it's real bad nonetheless. But... not my problem, except that if it'd blow over it falls into my garden on my plants and things in it. Anywho, let's just hope we both get through it unscathed! |

4°C Cloudy
Rainfall in next 24 hrs 6mm Humidity 78% Wind 7 mph Feels Like 1°C Pressure 1029 hPa Visibility 10 miles UV Index 0 Air Quality 2 Yesterday’s storm resulted in lots of fallen trees, travel disruptions, many thousands without power and 2 deaths. It’s literally the calm before the storm just now because in a few hours Storm Corrie is due to hit us with the same ferocity. Oh joy! My fence is still standing though thankfully. |

So Scotland got hit real good!
Glad to hear your fencing is okay! Looks like Corrie will hit us harder over here than Malik. Again mostly northern provinces that can get gusts of 11 Beaufort! Not forecast for here but I think I will add the 2nd strap just in case later on. Power outage we don't usually get as all cables are underground. Today should be okay concerning wind, but it'll pick up again tonight. Fingers crossed again. 8C sunny, some clouds, currently not much wind. |

Damn, now we're closer to the storm happening, the forecast has changed.
We will now get very heavy storm with gusts between 10 - 12 Beaufort. The Beaufort scale doesn't get higher than 12... And here where I live will get that too. NW even, so this could get worse than Ciara we had 2 years ago. That was SW wind which is better for me here. Effing great! The wind will die down a little bit in the evening. It's going to be a swell Monday! I hope my garage and gates will survive this! |

Fingers crossed neither of us will be affected too badly🤞 There are still thousands without power from yesterday’s storm and I’m grateful to still have mine. Our storm warning is in place until 6 am tomorrow. It’s gonna be a long night! Stay safe Crystal. |

Over here it's going to arrive a wee bit later, logical considering the distance. It will begin to build up during the night and will be bad all day. I usually put an earplug in if it's that bad so I don't hear it so well. If bad both ears. Sigh... I had hoped never having to experience this chit again after Ciara. Fingers crossed!! |

Oh, I just put the 2nd strap around the gates. I decided to buy a 3rd one next time I get to the shop.
Checked the garage on the inside, put the foam back to stop wind from coming in under the corrugated sheet roof, newspaper between the gaps at the top of the steel door (it's old and a little bent hihi), and an extra support beam -stood up diagonally to support the roof etc- just in case. Then parked my car elsewhere so if things go wrong at least I'll still have my car. Can't park in front of my own house as the a-hole neighbours park their 2 cars too spaciously. That's all I can do. And tomorrow try to not get too stressed out, and not look at the gates at all as seeing them move in spite of the straps freaks me out, haha. Oh, and I always call on AA Michael to protect my home and car, gates, etc. And the Wind Dragons to help divert the wind. That always makes me feel better!! |

I'm in the peak of it right now. Some 8 C. When I woke there was sun, now it's cloudy, and we could get showers. |
