Topic: How do you REALLY Know??? | |
---|---|
So how do you figure out if the person that you are talking to is safe/legitimate? There is a lot of talk that goes on with emails...but how do you check to see if the person you are about to meet, or want to meet is safe? Make sense? I'm new at this...just would like to have some advise from others. Thank you .... in advance!

there's a few websites that you can look up peoples backgrounds on. couldn't tell you what they are. for the most part people are pretty open and honest on these things, it's only maybe 1 out of 1000 that you need to worry about.

I think the more you message a person, the better idea you have about them. But honestly, how do you know people you meet off this site in person are really safe? Seems to me there's not a whole lot of difference, other than the feeling you get by meeting a person...in person.

This why I ask'm to go back & reread my profile. I think it says it all. Always open & upfront. Only way to be, if another matter comes up (sex) I always let them bring it up first in e-mails. |

Google is your friend any information you get (screename, name, e-mail address, etc.) "Google" it to see what pops up.
Ask questions keep track of the answers, re-ask the question in a different form, in a different chat and notcie the answers. |

videochat to be more comfortable. meet in public with friends at first. you can never know really. so best be cautious. no harm in that.

If you have any strange suspicions that may lead you to have an unsafe feeling about someone from the internet, you have the option of looking them up on sex offender databases which are open to the public.

if you have any misgivings do not meet them at all.

There is a lot of talk that goes on with emails...but how do you check to see if the person you are about to meet, or want to meet is safe? Make sense? I'm new at this...just would like to have some advise from others. Thank you .... in advance! Eight of the nine people I met from dating sites were absolute disasters. "Dishonest" doesn't even begin to cover it. One was an arsonist, and another was stealing clothes from the store where she worked. I made a lot of mistakes: didn't take my time, ignored red flags, heard what I wanted to hear. What I learned: there's no schedule for meeting someone; there are (lots of) dishonest people out there, you can't believe everything you hear (or read). Take your time, don't give out any personal information until you're really comfortable about it. If it's for real, it's worth putting a little extra time into. |

Thank you...I had to do a double take when I saw your photo. You remind me so much of my ex-husbands wife. That's a good thing...she is a wonderful person. Thank you for responding back..and yes, I will and have weeded through a lot of junk. Just wanted to be better prepared for when I do want to meet someone. Have you ever talked to someone from a different country that you have felt a connection with?
