I recently moved into an apartment and am still settling in. As I'm getting my kitchen situated, I've run into a small issue. I can't figure out which drawer should be the junk drawer. It's a small kitchen with four drawers, they are about the same size. Two of the drawers are by the stove, between the stove and fridge. Across by the sink are the other two, one in the middle next to the sink, and one upfront by the kitchen entrance.

I've already designated the drawer by the sink to be the flatware drawer. Is this proper?

You can also buy a box or small container that you can put somewhere, on a shelf or fridge or in a cupboard wherever in the house.

I keep a lot of stuff in the cupboard with the fuse box. It's got shelves, they're all full up.
But a man's drawer can be anywhere, even in the living room in a cupboard's drawer.

Thanks for the feedback on this issue. Upon further research, it has been determined that a junk drawer is not proper.

I have two nice walk-in closets, so I have plenty of storage space.

Now, I need to get a new dinning room table set. I don't know if I should get a round or square table. The dinning area is small and it will just be me and my two kids, so small family and small space. I was thinking a round table would be best, as the area is small.

You might get one of them extendable tables. They don't take much space at all.

It looks like a small rounded table would be best. I don't know if I want one that extends, probably not. As long as it can seat four people I'll be happy.

Now, I got curtains for my windows, but I got the wrong size for my living room. They are too long. I was thinking of getting a floor lamp and wrapping the curtains around the floor lamp. I don't know. I don't want to return the curtains, but I don't really know what to do with them now.

bunt them up shorter, or maybe dig out the sewing machine and shorten them properly

Use them for bed spreads.

And the junk drawer should always be near the kitchen sink. Cause they always end up holding everything but the kitchen sink.

You poor man - only one junk drawer.
I have several:
One for binding - sticky tape, rubber bands, velcro, string, glues, pins, etc.
One for assorted things too good to throw out, but not used.
One for odd shaped larger awkward un-used items.
And some shed drawers with heavy industrial semi-useful stuff too good to chuck.

Well, got some furniture. Not really what I wanted but will do for a start. Still don't have a junk drawer, but for now I have a junk closet.

Personally I have great organizing skills.
I don't keep junk but I do keep odds & ends which come in handy from time to time.
I use bins and plastic stacking drawer units which I can add to and have tray dividers.

If you are limited for space you might have a look at Pinterest on a search for small spaces storage.

I picked up some plastic trays at Walmart which have plastic dividers and lids.

You can also search pinterest for pantry organizers which may give you an idea for option you haven't thought of yet.





When I had a garage and a basement I used old pickle jars with the lids nailed to the bottom of a shelf to hold hardware and little stuff.
