Topic: Being more hungry and/or blood sugar dips? | |

Has anybody noticed to be more hungry and maybe even having blood sugar dips of late?
First I thought it were my peri-menopause hormones, I had the same thing but worse when that started, and it's why I'm on the pill for estrogen. It went, but of late it's back AND my mother of 77 has had the same thing the last couple of days. One of my FB friends has more hunger too, no dips though. So I'm thinking is this a thing? Anyone here experiencing this too? |

And I take dad's blood sugar at least once a day and it's been really good of late |

I check my blood sugar daily.
I've noticed its been running lower later in the day. I usually have trouble finishing my food on my plate but I've noticed lately I eat it all. I'm also craving candy at night. This is all since the pandemic restrictions. I was thinking it was just me till you mentioned it. Perhaps its a psychological drive due to the restrictive change in lifestyles? Funny how a psychological change can drive a physological change in the body because blood sugar is a measurable physical change. Its not something that is controlled by mental processes directly. You can't 'will' your blood sugar to raise or lower. You have to take steps. It also seems I'm going thru rolls of toilet paper faster? My a/c has been set on a program for years but it seems hotter in here? I check the temp and its still right where its supposed to be? Its also funny how I am craving foods that are in low supply at the grocer. A half gallon of milk used to go bad before I used it all, now I am running out of milk and milk is difficult to get now. Same with eggs. |

My blood sugars have been up and down lately but I am diabetic. I am finding Iβm eating more but whether thatβs out of boredom or not I donβt know. Also, lack of exercise can keep my sugars up.

Uh no changes here for me And I take dad's blood sugar at least once a day and it's been really good of late Lucky you! I get hungry, eat, stay hungry. I had that when menopause started due to dropping estrogen. That's why I'm on the pill but now I get it anyway. Not as bad as then, the way it was then I couldn't function at all, just hang in a chair and breathe. Zombie. Horrible! It's not that bad now, but seriously annoying to stay hungry. |

I also get hungry earlier. I cannot even make it till 5! By half past 4 I need food and even then I've been sort of hungry since 3.30. I bought oatmeal last week. Seems to stabilise blood sugar and fill you up for quite long as it has lots of fibres. |

Maybe it's eating fast sugars and carbs? I am not sure yet but I have the idea that of late I tend to get this more when I eat something like pizza, or noodles etc.?
Again, not sure, but I think I eat more of these things now. Hmmm... food for thought, hihi. |

My blood sugars have been up and down lately but I am diabetic. I am finding Iβm eating more but whether thatβs out of boredom or not I donβt know. Also, lack of exercise can keep my sugars up. But even if diabetic, do you normally have your blood sugars go up and down? Itβs fairly stable usually but Iβm eating more and exercising less so sugars are more up and down than normally |

I think Tom covered it best..we are all in survival mode,
our bodies sense this and begin to crave what they think they might miss=blood sugar spikes. I can see this, in the pandemic. I have been making like a Thanksgiving dinner every freaking day. Comfort, I guess? |

I have been making like a Thanksgiving dinner every freaking day. Comfort, I guess? Thanksgiving dinner style every day? Hahaha, wonderful humour! Maybe there's something to it. Thing is, I'm not really in fear and stress. So how would it then work? Picking up on what's whizzing round? |

I've been craving carbs a little more than usual. Other than that, I haven't noticed a change with in my blood sugar. I normally have hypoglycemic tendencies, so any dips I might have would seem normal to me.

How do you tell if you've got low blood sugar?
I last ate 25 hours ago, spent most of the day building a rockery out of well. large rocks, filled it with soil and had a shower. feel a bit whooped. starting to feel a bit peckish. Job's done though. always been the same. lean burn. A thankgiving type meal lasts me two days, prety much lol I've probably got no blood sugar right now... |

It may have alot to do with lockdown diets.
People tend to eat more junk. And, Less physical activity. |

But do the restrictions change your life? I mean, you're at home anyway, just like me. I don't feel all that impacted by it either since I don't work.
So I'm not sure it's that. Yeah, my life hasn't changed much but I see the shortages when I shop so I'm thinking I'm sub-consciously changing my habits. At the beginning of all this when there was a run on the stores and bottled water was sold out everywhere I started drinking more water than usual. I usually keep bottled water just in case. Now that the water is in ready supply again, I'm drinking less water? Just something I noticed... I've been anticipating my beer battered fish samich & tater tots since about 2pm. Its 4:30 and I'm already ready to cook it (I eat about 6 or 7pm). I've been typing most of the day, haven't worked up a hunger but I am? Its not normal and its all recent since the restrictions came into effect? I'm chalking it up to my own sub-conscious delusional fears of starvation. I have plenty of food. |

I don't have fear of starving. Plenty of food in the supermarkets here. No need for hoarding, no need to fear shortage. We don't use bottled water, our tapwater is one of the best in the world and it tastes good, no chlorine or something. So I open the tap and I got all the water I need, whenever. Won't run out of that either. I think I do have a tendency to eat easy stuff, ready meals, etc., more so than normal. I will pay attention to that and see if it improves if I make normal meals. |
