Do you still go to the shops, albeit supermarket or other shops, right now?
I think over here we're not at the peak yet, and I still got enough of most, but at some point I will run out. That moment will come quite soon with perishables like milk.
I got 1 liter of UHT milk, but that's for absolute emergencies as I can't stand the taste of it in my coffee.

In any case, do you still go grocery shopping?

I’m no longer going outdoors or shopping but will only go when I need fresh produce. Stores here are allowing the elderly and vulnerable people to shop safely at certain times and certain days so I will go at those times. I have enough food to get me through for quite a few days.

Yes, still going out to the shops twice weekly, although I get a lift because there's no chance of me travelling by public transport, it's not worth the risk. There's not a lot left but for the moment they still have milk and bread. I'm more concerned about my cats. I have a month's worth of food for them and I've ordered more but the shops are also running out of cat food.

I switched my work times to when no one is in the office. I'm gonna have to grocery shop today which gives me anxiety. Both my kids are asthmatic and I'm scared to death I'll bring something to them.

At this time my schedule has not changed.. still going to work already got everything I need just in case we get locked down..

Only thing I just realized this morning was I needed more meds that I take for my tendinitis for my shoulder going to call it in as soon as they open.. And stop and get some more eggs other then that I"m set if they lock us down here all the way..

Which I do see happening most likely within the next week..

The only shopping I do is groceries anyway.. I'm not one that likes to go shopping or browsing.. If I need something I get it and get out..

For those that are not going outside don't stop for the sun is good for you and helps from sinking into depression...And is a fighter against this virus..

I just went to the supermarket. Nice to see people take the 1,5 meters distance into account, incl at the cash register. Not all though, some almost brush passed you, which I don't like.
I got more bread, milk, cookies, fruit etc. in. I was out of fruit which I find important right now. But I cannot carry much on my bicycle.
Maybe I'll go back tomorrow for cat food. I got their meat for about a week and a half. Again it's the weight of getting a whole lot in but it is smart to get some more.

If I'd gotten a car I would've got more last week. All you need to stock (jars cans etc) is heavy.

I don't know how it'd go if they put a country on full lock-down. People still need to eat and drink. I wonder if they will then supply food per home? I assume most will have some stock, but if you got a family you'd need loads.

In any case, it felt good to be out again.

Oh, and sun, yes! The sun is finally shining again and will be for the next couple of days. I do intend to enjoy it!

We have shopped normally, no shortages of any kind, store shelves are full.
Thank you Oregon ;-)

Even with lock down you will be allowed out for essentials like groceries and meds. At least that is my take on it. If not then how do we survive! BTW still shortages on the shelves here like toilet paper, long life milk and cleaning products.

I don't think you will be allowed to go out at all if there's a full lock down. That's the idea. It would be defeatist if you could still go shopping.
That's why most are stocking up.

I've not seen any real shortage here in the local supermarket either. Once all bog roll was sold out, but now it was available. I think most have enough stock, haha.
What wasn't there: croissants and buns like that which keep for weeks. The type you need to stick in the oven for a short time to finish them off before you eat
Those had gone.
Other than that, plenty of food, bog roll etc.

I have read that the food chain here is intact and that it will
return to normal (meaning plenty of toilet paper) in no time
at all.

They have already dealt out the most targeted (virus-wise)vulnerable
group in the States to receive the $1000-$1200 funds because they will
use tax rolls and those who do not file a return (below the poverty
level) get no funds.

One thing you should have on hand is powdered milk. I know it is poor tasting but the milk will start running out soon. Lock down starts for us in my area @ 5 pm (1700) today.

We're pretty well boned.

But, I've not changed much of
anything about my routine.

Trying to have fun in a bad situation,
I did wear a full gas mask, when I did
my shopping yesterday.
Nobody was amused. laugh
Some looked startled...
Some looked jealous.

I don't think we even have powdered milk. We're a milk producing country, there's never need for powdered milk and I doubt we will get need for it now.
Even in full lockdown people will be allowed to go to the supermarket (and hospital and pharmacy) meaning supermarkets will continue to get stocked too.
Cows won't miraculously stop producing milk, they will still need milking otherwise they get infected udders. If supermarkets still get stocked and farmers still farm, there will be no shortage.

In UK we have our milk delivered to the doorstep.

Cool! We used to have that in the past as well.
When I was a kiddie we still had these small local specialised shops. Like a small grocer, a baker, butcher, one for yarn, needles, buttons etc. I still remember that last one. Wooden ceiling-high cupboards with tiny drawers with all the items sorted in them, and the old lady with a bun who owned the shop.
But all these disappeared, including the milkman, in the 70s when supermarkets came up and grew bigger and bigger.

Stopped using buses and filled my car to the brim it is generally not used much,I have been shopping for fresh stuff and a few cans , a couple of kilos of porridge
Before all this I bought bulk dried veggie mixes in big sacks to get a good deal every 18 months and still have a big supply .I don't use milk at all

If I get cabin fever I can drive to empty beaches or deserted country areas in about 20 mins to get some fresh air

Other than that it is guitar plucking or cleaning /organising cupboards

Gosh, that just took me back to all the old department stores of my childhood happy

My ex and I had a dairy for almost 30 yrs. No cows; we pasteurised and bottled the milk and did doorstep deliveries. It was hard work, then as you say, supermarkets came and started selling milk cheaper and we couldn’t compete.

Apologies for going off topic flowerforyou
