Topic: baseball & drugs | |

Can't believe this topic hasn't been posted yet. The Mitchell report's been out for 2 days now & the list of players cited as using steroids &/or HGH includes many surprises for me. Okay, Barry Bonds & Miguel Tejada are no shock. But, Roger Clemons & Andy Pettitte rocked me.
What are you baseball fans thinking about the whole thing? Is the report believable? Should these guys be punished? Will you still go to games? Right now, I'm just sad. I'll still go to the games & follow my team (Yankees), but the whole thing has left me with a 'bad taste'. |

I think the entire thing is crazy......How can you feel good about yourself when you know that your cheating. I really dont get it?????????????????????? I think its a sad sad scene :(

It is a disgrace and unfourtunate. What kind of message does this give to the millions of children who idolize these guys? Drugs are bad son....but if you want to play pro ball.....

its become about drugs and money and money and drugs and so easily someone in their youth or older is sucked it if it means "an edge" and its a serious issue in our country as far as addiction...no the report doesn't surprise me, just that its taken this long for it to be addressed.

IF THEY WANT TO CLEAN THE GAME(S)FOOTBALL TOO, UP....THEY HAVE TEST LIKE THEY DO FOR THE OLYMPICS, ANYTHING LESS IS A JOKE!

Only testing for half the steroids out there is a joke. It's a PR sham at best.

I hate to be a "stick in the mud", but what is more amazing to me than anything is how ANYONE can get so into "garbage: like this.
It's a damn GAME! Where the ENTIRE INDUSTRY is all about MONEY (just like our government now). They use all these resources and time and energy to see who took something to make them play better (hence get more MONEY)..instead they could use all those HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of DOLLARS in money..ALL that time WASTED...and use it ALl for something TRULY WORTHWHILE..like Educating our children Solving the REAL drug problems in our society Building our economic structure back to the greatest in the world for ALL Americans and the list goes on and on. Who did sterioids or performance enhancing drugs playing a GAME??? My attentions are on much more important matters .. I could not care less about who did what in a GAME. Turn them off, stop supporting them, stop givng them your attention and money...and then YOU have the power to make them change. All the "lip service" in the world changes NOTHING! Only ACTION makes CHANGE! |
|
|
|
And baseball player that
took steroids to give them the competitive edge to set records should be BANNED FOR LIFE from the Hall of Fame. Maybe they should create a Hall of Shame. |

Only ACTION makes CHANGE! True, it's just a game, but kids emulate their heroes & sports figures are high on their hero lists. And, steroid use is rampant at the high school level & it's a big problem. They totally destroy their bodies, not to mention the potential for 'roid rage'. This issue isn't nearly as big as others you've mentioned, or others not mentioned, like the Iraq mess, but it's still significant. Plus, the report was funded by major league baseball, not the government. |

What happened in the late 1990s and early 2000s has happened and is done. No action that MLB takes against the named players will change the past. I am by no means condoning the use of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball and hope that this debacle will make the new generation of players think twice before using drugs of any kind. It was not illegal in 1998, but it is now and today's players need to abide by the rules.

And "do what ytou need to do to get there!' and "get ALL you can!". And no, the report was funded by the FANS! Who pay all the outragous prices for ALL of this. That's the bottom line! The FANS cut off the money supply...and chit WILL CHANGE! Not only change, the FANS can dictate what happens! |

I have an English bulldog & he's insane. LOL.."maybe"? No "maybe's" about it! I had two of the BEST mentors in the country back from 1987-1990. Mr. Sam Walton and Mr. Lee Iacocca. You don't get taught the business world any better than that! One of my companies was licesned with MLB Properties..went to the Winter Meetings back in Louisville, KY, that was either 90' or 91'. I KNOW thier structure and it's ALL about MONEY! I GUARANTEE, the fans CUT OFF THE MONEY, that means you buy NOTHING with anything to do with the game (meaning anything with the MLB logo tagged to it, cause that is the licensed money products)..and in ONE season, they will be asking the fans "WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO???" And they would DO IT! As for the first pup, nah, he's not mine..and he is a Boxer. The other white pup in my profile, she is mine. |

And baseball player that took steroids to give them the competitive edge to set records should be BANNED FOR LIFE from the Hall of Fame. Maybe they should create a Hall of Shame. More than likely you won't see high-profile players like McGwire, Bonds, Giambi, and Canseco elected to the Hall of Fame for that very reason. The other 80 or so names are more sketchy. |

Sports are getting way to out of hand. It should go back to the old times where players had to work jobs in the winter to support their families. Getting that much money to play a game is ridiculous. Now the game is focused on home runs. That's why ball parks are smaller. I'd love to see baseball played the right way. Manufacturing runs by using fundamentals. Bunts, stolen bases, hit and runs, etc. That's what I love about the game.

I love a good old-fashioned pitching duel too. |

Wait a few years and see if some of these guys don't start dying off just like the wrestlers. Then maybe everybody will get the message about how bad steroids really are.
