βThe tragedy of the people of Palestine is that their country was βgivenβ by a foreign power to another people for the creation of a new state. The result was that many hundreds of thousands of innocent people were made permanently homeless. With every new conflict their numbers increased. How much longer is the world willing to endure this spectacle of wanton cruelty?
It is abundantly clear that the refugees have every right to the homeland from which they were driven, and the denial of this right is at the heart of the continuing conflict. No people anywhere in the world would accept being expelled en masse from their own country; how can anyone require the people of Palestine to accept a punishment which nobody else would tolerate? Israel has expanded by force of arms. After every stage in this expansion Israel has appealed to βreasonβ and has suggested βnegotiations.β This is the traditional role of the imperial power, because it wishes to consolidate with the least difficulty what it has already taken by violence. The aggression committed by Israel must be condemned because every expansion is an experiment to discover how much more aggression the world will tolerate. We are frequently told, βWe must sympathize with Israel because of the suffering of the Jews in Europe at the hands of the Nazis.β What Israel is doing today cannot be condoned, and to invoke the horrors of the past to justify those of the present is gross hypocrisy. β Bertrand Russell This statement on the Middle East was dated 31st January, 1970, and was read on 3rd February, the day after Bertrand Russell's death, to an International Conference of Parliamentarians meeting in Cairo. It was his last political act. Bertrand Russell was an intellectual giant of the 20th century who bore witness to his generation's painful transition from Victorian optimism to postwar trauma. He always believed that ideas could change the world. He was closely involved in many of the events that shaped world politics during the first two-thirds of the 20th century. He was a prominent peace activist. |

"The Israeli decision to rain death and destruction on Gaza, to use lethal weapons of the modern battlefield on a largely defenceless civilian population, is the final phase in a decades-long campaign to ethnically-cleanse Palestinians.
Israel uses sophisticated attack jets and naval vessels to bomb densely-crowded refugee camps, schools, apartment blocks, mosques, and slums to attack a population that has no air force, no air defence, no navy, no heavy weapons, no artillery units, no mechanized armour, no command in control, no army⦠and calls it a war. It is not a war, it is murder." Noam Chomsky |

βI think it was smart that youβre wary of using the word βterrorism,β and if you talk about the cycle of violence, or βan eye for an eye,β you could be perpetuating the idea that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a balanced conflict, instead of a largely unarmed people against the fourth most powerful military in the world.β

It would be my greatest sadness to see Zionists (Jews)do to Palestinian Arabs much of what Nazis did to Jews.
Albert Einstein PS I know nothing about the Clintons, just putting it out there for my own safety. |

Hello Dino
War is never fair .. it is always a show of power . I am curious why other Arab/middle eastern nations do not intervene in the Palestinian/Israeli conflict . Do they not care ?? If the "world " did intervene do you really think peace would be the consequence ? What intervention do you believe would bring a peaceful resolution to the conflict ? No pressure to answer |

No pressure to answer Hi Blondey, I wouldn't call what is happening to the people of Gaza "War" I would like to see a world movement as we saw against the Apartheid regime in South Africa, if it was wrong there it should be wrong in Palestine, it seems that the only way to make a difference is to hit people in their pocket. As for other Arab/middle eastern nations I don't know, maybe fear. |

Just in general, no country, no people, should be invaded or oppressed by any other country. Especially not for profit or to enlarge an imperialist reign of terror. This applies for Palestine, the 6 counties in the North, or the Basque Country.
