Yes, and it creates a bit of a breeze. When I lived in Indonesia we did that too when going to visit a temple or anything else that required longer time in the full sun.
We learnt that trick from the Indonesians! The parasols were not just for pretty purposes or sun shielding only, also to have at least a bit of a breeze :) |

Delightful, your outdoors is cooler than my indoors, haha. My cats are having a rough time as well. They insist on going outdoors, and both are mostly black. I bought a drinkwater fountain for cats but they hardly use it, sigh. One looks almost anorexic while he's usually the one leaning towards too big, haha. Glad when this scorcher is going to be over! |

It's just gone 12.30 here so temp will increase in the next hour or so plus the sun hasn't hit my house yet so indoors isn't too bad at the moment. Oh, poor puddy tats! I had a long haired cat in the past and he suffered terribly in the heat. Not much I could do though. |

Nope, you can only trust that they know what to do. I guess they prefer out over in because outdoors there's a bit of a breeze, even though it's warm.
One of my cats found a spot in the shadow the other day where he was in the bit of wind that comes around the corner of the house. Usually it's a draft, but with this heat quite pleasant. Smart animal! |

Crystal, I have a fan and one of those little misting things that you spray plants with, occasionally I spray it in front of the fan (not in it ) and that cools the circulating air

Oh, that is a smart one!! 
I have used my essential oil diffuser, which produces 'mist'. During winter I find it unpleasant as that mist is cold, but now it's quite nice! |

Yes, some places had 41,8C! I don't think I've ever experienced weather this hot -it's 37C here- this close to the coast. Usually doesn't get above 30C cos it's stone throw from the North Sea. Right now it's 29C indoors... I hope my son's okay, I think he had to work and he works in the kitchen of a beach club, an open kitchen so no airco. Lord knows how hot it gets in there. I just saw that the south east of UK is going to get some rain and thunder? |

Yeah, many places in Holland have the same temp. And tomorrow the forecast is 40C again for those areas (further inland, also where my mom lives :( )
And considering it usually gets warmer than forecast.... Tonight's expected to stay above 30C!! Insane! I've put my feet in a wash-tub with a layer of cold water. I've never done that in my life, haha. But it's unbearable! 29C indoors and you can't walk out for relief as it's a stinking 36C there. |
