You can be here today and gone tomorrow. I lost both a sister in-law and a brother in-law both in their early forties. Both very active and you would never have guessed any problems. All their future plans for life vanished in this world anyway. Yes age is an issue for some things but I fail to see how it can be a complete game changer. We are not all alike thank fully. Sure the out side wrapper and appearance attracts you to that person but its the content that makes you want to keep it around or not. We all have different experiences and some people mature faster than others. Age does not always bring wisdom. I know older people that are idiots and some very bright younger people also. I have had great conversations with older and younger. What's the future to bring? We are going cyborg (Elon Musk Neuralink) and will start living for hundreds of years old like some accounts of people in the bible (good history book with missing info) Gene editing is already taking place. People who have age issues are pretty close minded and lack vision. Heck a simple software upgrade can have you running the same code and no conflicts! The future looks great!

I suppose to me it comes down more about compatibility then the actual age and where both are in their life.
If a younger man wants to have children in the future, I am not going to be the one for him. I can't have anymore children. Where are both at in their level of intellect and behaviors. Someone who acts very childish still, is going to be a major turnoff to me. Someone who actually is mature intellectually and emotionally for their age, can be a good fit. Character, manners, behavior, level of communication, shared interests and the willingness to learn something new from each other, integrity, honesty, all of those things to me are important. Those can be found in people of differing age groups and same age group. I was married twice, both times to older than me men. Both times long term marriages. 12 year and almost 18 years. In the end, they didn't work out. I have dated men who have been anywhere from 30 years of age to 55 years of age, and have found that the actual age didn't guarantee maturity or the lack thereof either. In the end it didn't work out because we were just not on the same path or there just wasn't enough actual chemistry to make it work. Age is not just a number, but it doesn't have to be the deciding factor. The two people in question are in the end. I can tell you that if I feel as if I would be embarrassed to be seen with someone or introduce them to my friends, then it really doesn't matter what age is on their birth certificate. It has everything to do with how they behave. That's just me so. |

I am a mom of a 40year and my youngest is 21 years old. personal I understand you are grown at 21 but I don't want my man to close to her age and get caught up in an awkward situation so I hope with all due respect, I prefer my guy at least 15 or less younger than me to 5 years older.

Age does not matter as long as the people involved in the relationship are old enough to make decisions for themselves.

Young guy sends a message to older women. She says he is too young and age doesn't matter. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have read this.
It matters! Interests. I cannot imagine someone who is 45 or younger sitting in a room with my friends and being able to understand what we are talking about. People my age remember Kennedy. We lived through that trauma. And people all over the world were traumatized by his assassination. Same for King and Lennon. We grew up with these people. They aren't just things the heard about or read somewhere. They are imprinted in our minds. The first space flight. Landing on the moon. Wringer washing machine. Only radio or black and white TV. A mom who stayed home with the kids when one income could support a family. Music. Whole different scene there Movies. They watch movies about the above events and think they know it. We can watch the movie and tell you what they left out or changed for the sake of the Hollywood machine. Life stages. I'm retired. I don't want to wait 20 years for him to retire so we can travel together. I've already put my time in. Raised my family. Needs and wants. What is important to a 40 or 50 yr old isn't as important to those of us who are retied. I could go on but what would be left? Sex? Personally I would rather have sex with someone I can relate to in all the above categories and a lot more. Not into going backwards in life |

I couldn't agree more and men tell me that age doesn't matter to them, that I look younger than my years etc. That changes nothing, I AM older and my perspective on life is completely different. I have absolutely no interest in men who are much younger than me and if they start talking about how much better at sex they think they are than an older man, well, point proven.
