Topic: Lack of courtesy | |
---|---|
I have replied to maybe twenty ladies on this site and not one has had the courtesy to reply.
How difficult is it to reply briefly, even if not interested? I am respectful and courteous when I reply to someone I might be interested in meeting. What does it take to get a reply? |

It is not courteous to insist that people who don't even know you abide by your rules pertaining to online communication.

Hi David,
I don't think I am insisting or that it's a rule, but I know that if someone contacted me I would definitely reply even if I were not interested in meeting them. I think it is more about common courtesy. |

It is not courteous to insist that people who don't even know you abide by your rules pertaining to online communication. Using *that* logic..it's not "courteous" to "insist" that pepple waiting on you in stores or whatever treat you like a decnt human being, eh? Being courteous is something a person should just *be*....and that goes both ways. |

Many things make a difference if they reply or not.. Like when was the last time they were online.. Due to they do not delete profiles it might have been months since they were online and not notified when they get a e-mail for they disabled that part..
To me no reply is a reply if they were interested and know they have e-mails they will reply ... |

Hi David, I don't think I am insisting or that it's a rule, but I know that if someone contacted me I would definitely reply even if I were not interested in meeting them. I think it is more about common courtesy. With the exception of the obvious scammers (we all know what their intital messages are)...I *always let someone know I got their messages and if I am not interested, let them know politely, like "sorry..don't think we'd be compatible".. Costs me nothing excpet the 20 second to type that out and send it, and that way I have acknowledged the other person as a fellow human worthy of simple decency. If they choose to be pushy, or rude after that..well, there's always the "Block" function. |

I usually reply to messages but half of them are scammers .
I must be polite . |

It is not discourteous to decline to answer a private message from a complete stranger.
The fact that you always reply to private messages from complete strangers doesn't mean that you are practicing a "common" courtesy. It just means that you are willing to reply to complete strangers. |

That's your opinion! If you haven't met a person In person they are All strangers. That's my opinion. |

Um, thus far, all posts in this thread are opinions.

Should a person reply back if they are not interested?

Why not Catinida?
If you received one polite message from someone, it does not cost anything to at least reply whether or not you are interested. I think that's the polite thing to do. I know there are many scammers in these sites. I have had about half a dozen women try to scam me. One even tried to blackmail me. But after you get caught out once, you recognise them easily enough. |

it isn't polite to insist that others reply to you if you are a complete stranger to them.

If I send a Message to a Man, I want him to message me back even if he doesn't have interest.
Most men I messaged do return the message. Many don't do Open Forums ! I respect that on any site. That's just Me. My opinion. |

On this site, no reply is a reply.

Ok. I get a lot of messages sent to me that say "hi" or "how are you". There is nothing at all on the profile. Should I answer that?

I've seen this topic in the forums a lot, replying back to everyone that writes to you. Some people say, if interested, write back.
