Hey people in here :)
I have a question for you :)
What is so scary about filling out even the basics in the profile and doing it honestly?
I have stumbled upon several, if not most of profiles in here that i've seen that has nearly nothing in them, not even a short selfexplanatory text about ythemselves.
Is really "hi" meaning everything or what?
Those few who really have something in their profiles such as the answers to the basics and a short text can be counted on one hand and one in particular that caught my eye hasn't even been on here for over a month according to the profile itself.
so, is it so bad to write something about yourself or is the "hi" a shortcut because it's obviously difficult to write something that might catch someones interest?

Those who do not complete their profiles are not seriously looking or just here to troll. so don't sweat it, ignore them and move on.

It's laziness..
Or, they think their picture is all you need...

As I have no interest in a lazy man, or one who is mainly interested in the outside ("all that matters is I am attracted to you..everything else will work out/ none of thet other stuff is important")...
Ergo, dudes with no profile, regardless of how they look..pffft..
I go to the next one

This type of question assumes that everyone is here to live to your expectations.
Its a controlling mind that thinks this way.
If you flip the question someone might think that people that write a lot or fill out their profiles are doing it wrong.

Its much easier to understand everyone is different and how somone does or doesn't fill out their profile is only their own business.

You focus on the ones within your preferences and ignore the rest.
I only live behind my own eyes.
Its impossible for me to live behind someone else's.

For me, it will only take one match.
All others are merely not a match and that's okay.
Just because they don't match for me, doesn't mean they won't match for anyone.

Not disagreeing with you, and you have valid points...
But...with one pic and nothing written about their interests, hobbies, or what they are looking for..it's hard to even have any inkling of they'd be a "match"..
Got to have *something* to go on....otherwise...it's just a blind stab in the dark...having to ask a bunch of questions *just* to find out if the two of you have enough in common to even *start* a conversation...

I myself would rather know upfront what quirks and possible kinks they have that i could not deal with...rather than after a day & a half or more of chatting..

But, to each their own..
Everyone deserves love...even the most quirky among us... flowers

Personally, I prefer multiple pics and a fully filled out profile.
I don't even bother to consider those that don't.
It cuts down on my possible matches but it increases the match potential of those that do provide a good profile.
It separates the grain and the chaff.

Of all the women on a dating site, most are NOT matches with me for some reason. I don't want a lot of matches. I want one really good one.
A blank profile lets me focus my efforts towards the remaining potential matches that fall within my personal preferences.

If you are looking for a needle in a haystack and remove all the strands of hay, eventually all that will be left is the needle, which will be very easy to find.

I think of it as
If you being you sets my heart on fire
AND
Me being me sets your heart on fire
Everyone else is just stuff in the way.

If you don't say much in your profile, people can't make stupid assumptions about you!

Heaven forbid someone actually fill in their profile information because then someone like the OP may actually ask them questions about what they wrote and then that person has to remember what they said about themselves. Most people are so eager to please and desperate to find SomeOne that they will use a blank profile in order to mislead a person into believing they are a "perfect match". My philosophy is to be what I am from day one that way on day 101, there are no surprises. And I want You to be who You really are from day one until day 101 too that way I don't get any surprises. I don't expect any man to change for me and I don't want any man to change for me. If you tell me on day one that you love fishing I would NEVER ask you to pretend you don't just because I don't. You are who you are and someone will like you for that, period.

What is so scary about filling out even the basics in the profile and doing it honestly?

What's so scary about having a conversation with everyone that does it and asking them personally.

Is really "hi" meaning everything or what?

Why not?
You can have the most filled out and honest profile in the world.
Doesn't mean anything if no one says "hi" to you, or answer your "hi."

is it so bad to write something about yourself

It's neither good nor bad.
It really just doesn't matter.

is the "hi" a shortcut because it's obviously difficult to write something that might catch someones interest?

"hi" is a shortcut because it's not worth the time to constantly write something unique to each individual that may or may not catch that specific individuals attention, may not generate a response or may be to someone that is a scammer or will never sign on again.

I can see the benefits of just saying "hi."
IMO it seems kind of like seeing someone in public and starting off with "pardon me," as opposed to immediately going into a routine trying to force their attention, or screaming at them "this is me! this is everything about me! validate it! commit it to memory! Now!"

I prefer a filled profile. If you're contacting me with a pic only, no pic, incomplete profile or any combination of those options I won't take you seriously or reply.

This is just my take on the subject.
