hey so what are other thoughts on an open marriage relationship.?️ The expression "open marriage" is an oxymoron, and anyone wanting such a thing is a moron. |

I wouldn't date anyone in an open marriage, and if I was married, it certainly wouldn't be an open marriage. |

I'm in one. sort of separated but married and raising our kids together. it's not like we have a sexual relationship nor have for 8 or 9 years but still I'm married so I guess it's open I knew it was you my evil nemesis! |

Not everyone can accept open marriage,I cann't accept it.For me,marriage means honest to your partner, you can only love your wife or husband, that is basic rule.Perhaps, some people are open-mind,they do something different like threesome,if you couple are both open-mind,that is not bad.If one of you are not open enough, something may go wrong in your marriage.

open marriage is like living a poly lifestyle.
where we find a person to show care/love for. Like myself I'm a poly type person, I have the ability to truly love more then one person. |

Exactly. :)
That's where him and I have gotten. 12yrs building trust and honesty. he wants to try it out speaking he's never lived that style of life. :) |

|
|
:) it's not for everyone.
And it takes a honest person to admit wether they are or aren't. :) |

the point is you deeply love one, so u marry them, but still have more love to give, so with honesty and trust, we allow each other to explore as well as have 3 or more fun partners. everyone wins.

Yes and no, with honesty, trust, ground rules, it can work. of course it's not for everyone.

And so happy my husband is as open minded as I am. |

What's the point of marriage, if one or both, are still dating others? not getting a divorce? financial children health insurance no, the point is trust. When one loves another, and has more to give. so we spread the love/care for others while keeping the marriage we started and still love. |

I guess it depends on how one defines marriage. To me, marriage is a commitment. Being 'open' and 'committed' are two different animals for me. My vows included 'forsaking all others' and it is a vow that is important to make a marriage different than dating (aka open relationship)
But its a personal decision. Id rather just date, than get married, if I still wanted us to be able to see others. |

I would think the statistic on a open marriage... leads to many divorces...
I am not looking to marry anyone... but know way would I want this either |

FoxWoman makes a lot of good points. A poly marriage is not the same as a married person looking for something on the side and is much more than just sex. It can be a 3 or 4 way relationship that fits the lifestyle of those involved. It may be because the married couple doesn't have all the same interests or travels for business or some other situation where they often end up apart for other reasons. That open relationship allows them to enjoy the social and/or sexual connection with someone else who can meet those needs. Sure, there is always the risk that the side relationship might become the primary relationship depending on the people involved. There certainly are some advantages of both an open marriage or a poly relationship.
I doubt if it would work for someone dependent on another for their emotional support or with a jealous side. It is supposed to be open where there is trust all the way around and there are no secrets. I guess a lot of it depends on what you need out of you primary relationship or marriage; it certainly isn't for everyone. There is a difference between a poly relationship, an open marriage, or a cheating spouse. A poly is similar to the idea of having 2 wives or 2 husbands. Open is more suited to dating with rules while married with your spouse being aware. Cheating is just that, sneaking around behind your partner's back. |
