"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best," he said, before adding, "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

,,,imagine if any other world leader would say, "when America sends its people, theyre not sending their most respectful, theyre bringing violence, disrespect, lewdness, and some, I assume, are good people."

blanket statements describing most of a group in negative terms can be easily interpreted as bigoted or racist.

calling countries on Africas continent 'shithole' countries, or calling for complete shutdown on MUSLIMS entering the country, or being sued and settling with the justice department for housing discrimination may be some of the reasons people believe he is racist, to name a few.

I happen to believe he is just ignorant and an opportunist who says what his base will get behind. I doubt he has much of ANY experience with or around anyone other than the financial elite to even have a REAL belief or knowledge about any demographic except other rich white males.

That's exactly your problem, you "interpret" what others say rather than actually hearing them. Are you saying MS-13 are their best? Are you saying we should never do background checks on people entering the US? Your entire preface is wrong on this topic, you are looking for racism so you are projecting it. Are the worst of the worse come over the boarder? YES!! Does that mean it is EVERYONE as you "interpret" it? NO!! In fact it isolates a group of them rather than saying a blanket statement, even you went on a rant about how people don't pick up on certain words and misunderstand, but you can't see that is what YOU are doing.

I said clearly and plainly what I meant to say. I explained that statements on both sides 'america was never THAT great' and 'these people are animals', because they are so non concise, can be easily torn apart and disected on BOTH sides. Everybody 'interprets' what others say in politics. it is why a thread is made about someone saying america was never 'that great'

that was exactly the point.

President was not specifically asked about MS13, there was only a brief hypothetical of AN MS13 member in the preceding monologue of a question. He COULD Have been referring to MS13. His history would make it easy to believe he was not being that specific since he already made previous statements about how only 'SOME" mexicans might be 'decent' without any mention of MS13 in that question. But giving him the benefit, that he MAY have been specifically referring to MS13 members. The way he phrased it is just non specific enough and general enough that it can be picked apart.

I am not looking for racism. Others are looking for an argument. I am contributing a logical observation about how statements about ANYTHING (race or nation) can be disected and 'interpreted' differently depending upon which side of the aisle people fall on on the political spectrum compared to the SPEAKER.

people DO pick up on certain words, like PEOPLE and ANIMALS (not people in MS13, but just PEOPLE) and America and not that great(not America not as great for EVERYBODY as some people pretend it is)

I am doing nothing but pointing out the practice, I have not taken a stance either way, except to say I understand how both sides of the aisle often interpret with certain biases.

Why would anyone care what Obama the traitor has to say..other than maybe his last words right before they snuff his lights out..and just to stay on topic ..Cuomo was never great and he would be wise not to piss off the president if he wants to keep his job..It amazes me how ignorant these people are to piss off the guy who has some of the best intelligence in the world and can dig up all the dirt on them and end their careers..just ask Mad Maxine see ya ..another moth to the flame in her career death spiral..when will these people ever learn..smokin

Why would anyone care what Trump the liar has to say? see how easy that is? back to the point though about A politicians words costing them their career. In this case Cuomo did not say anything any more or less offensive than other politicans or even other POTUS, who still maintained a base to stay in office.

So we cant write off anyone just because of their words, or we would not have our current POTUS.

One's 'base' can excuse, explain, or split hairs to maintain their stellar perception of their guy (or gal)

your the hair splitter here... You said you know what Trump was talking about, but yet still call him a racist...you're feeding the stupid Democrats anger, same as the media...you always said you want to be part of the solution, so why are you being part of the problem now?

lol .. you guys are so funny. I did not call him a racist. I was ASKED to provide what he has said that was racist and provided a quote and how it can be perceived as racist. Just like POTUS did not call ALL mexicans animals. I never specifically said TRUMP was racist when asked to provide an example. The problem now is simple reading comprehension and blind partisanship that fights non existent arguments ...lol

you hear a true statement and call racism? Who crosses the Mexican border illegally? The bottom feeders or the well to do citizens? With the exception of Egypt, what countries in Africa aren't shithole countries? Democrats don't want people to know the truth about anything, all they want is to lie and be lied to...

and THERE you have privilege .. do some reading and find out the answers to questions about the stereotypes that are so easily accepted when they arent about US (United States).

shithole is a descriptive and negative term and as subjective as GREAT. But the former about others is just the truth while the latter is a terrible career ending statement. ..... but some will never see the similarity.

Here is the data about Trumps unsupported claim about Mexicans

An estimated 1,955,951 native-born Americans, 117,994 illegal immigrants, and 43,618 legal immigrants were incarcerated in 2016. The incarceration rate for native-born Americans was 1,521 per 100,000, 800 per 100,000 for illegal immigrants, and 325 per 100,000 for legal immigrants in 2016 (Figure 1).

https://www.cato.org/publications/immigration-research-policy-brief/their-numbers-demographics-countries-origin

and an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants, so doing the quick math, and even roughly 100,000 out of 11 million makes about less than 1 percent that are criminal, which makes it more true that SOME are criminal becuase MOST are not.

I'll ask you this question. If we were going to the famous 1st Avenue venue in Minneapolis Minnesota on the corner of 1st Ave and 7th St at 9pm on August 25th, 2018 .. since it is a place which features famous musicians from around the world would you ask either

A) Who is going to be playing at the famous 1st Avenue venue in Minneapolis Minnesota on the corner of 1st Ave and 7th St at 9pm on August 25th, 2018?

OR

B) Who is going to be there?

It's a simple question which will explain a lot.

now who is splitting hairs? In relevance to the quote being described, the criminals in question are RAPISTS and MURDERERS.

in general anyone who commits an action punishable by law, like fudging on resumes, or speeding over the limit. or crossing without the crosswalk, or running a stop sign or red light, or fudging on tax forms ... etcetera, etcetera

.. there are far more criminals than are recorded, if we go by the general definition. So we generally only discuss those actually PROSECUTED for a crime in some way.

define sane, sounds like much ado about nothing to me.

there was a simple question asked DIRECTLY about the corner. There was NO specific question asked to trump about MS13. There was a long thank you session griping about past policy and sharing resources MOSTLY with a brief mention in there of an example of an MS13 member.

different contexts completely.

Congratulations, now you are starting to think like President Trump and Fox News. Have you ever watched Stossel's "Everything Is Illegal"? It's from an hour long show, but you will see in the first 10 minutes how ridiculous conservatives think laws have become. Let's keep in mind that it was the Republican party which ended slavery and it is Democrats who then founded the KKK in response. Don't believe me? Look up who Hillary's mentor into politics was? Hint, he died in 2010 and was once a Grand Dragon in the KKK. I guess I should also point out her biggest financial backer is George Soros who is a real life Nazi from his time in Nazi Youth and he is currently wanted in Hungary for crimes against humanity, I have friends in Hungary and they want to see him hanged for his crimes. Here's the link to Stossel's show which if you are listing petty crimes like that then you will be amazed by this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBiJB8YuDBQ&t

Food for thought, since people are all upset with President Trump for pushing the limits on illegal immigrants it is also because he (meaning President Trump for those who have difficulty keeping up with context of discussions) campaigned on changing those laws. I watched some of his campaign speeches online and imagine that, he is doing exactly what he said he would do by bringing attention to them. Now that he has we see Cryin Chuck Schumer REFUSE to take part in changing those laws which he advocated for in 2009, then cried about in 2017. Have you ever watched both sides of Schumer's comments?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlfOPvUABnw

Then we see Schumer say President Trump should just use his pen and write an executive order rather than making Congress do their job to change the law. Most people in the US never took a civics class since public schools stopped teach civics back in the 1970s under Carter, so most do not understand how the government works today. It makes things very difficult to discuss because people have a lack of knowledge. It is the job of Congress to make laws, not the President. Schumer is playing partisan politics plain and simple.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2jipa7TjoA

The polls show over 70% of Americans want immigration reform, and have wanted it for over 30 years. We need stricter boarder enforcement, but we also need quicker background checks so people aren't waiting close to a decade for approval. We absolutely need to reserve the right to refuse entry to known murderers, rapists and drug dealers which is why people are supposed to immigrate LEGALLY!

If you ever took the time to watch a Trump rally from when he was running for President, then you would see he is NOT against immigration, he is only against ILLEGAL immigration. Did you catch the difference or are you still stuck on "people" while missing the context of the discussion?

Only an ignorant person would think the word ignorant is name calling, LOL!!

Ignorance is a lack of knowledge on a topic. Everyone is ignorant about something, I for one am ignorant on feminine hygiene but I'm not a woman so it doesn't matter. The point is everyone in the world is ignorant about something and looking for offense when none was intended shows a bias in your view. You need to open your mind rather than looking at things from such a narrow view point.

Things are not always as they seem at first view. For example I typically illustrate that bias thinking with a photo I have saved on my phone. I text it to people (meaning my friends for those who can't follow the context of the conversation) and they instantly freak out because it looks like a woman sucking on a man's manhood, but it is a cropped photo and when I send them the original they understand they jumped to a conclusion because it was a baby in a high chair sharing Cheerios with his mom and it was an innocent picture presented in a way which comes off very pornographic to the biased minded individual.

Did you catch the difference or are you still stuck on "people" while missing the context of the discussion?

this is a wild tangent from anything I posted. I simply explained how both sides take statements without context to pick them apart. Simple and clear.

so one side will pick apart the words 'that great' and the other will pick apart 'people are animals'.
And those who pick them apart are not supporters ANYWAY, because supporters will look past and/or have an explanation for their guy or girl.

not JUST TRUMP , it is about POLITICS, politicians, and people taking sides and interpreting things to reinforce their side.

It's a simple question which will explain a lot.

sigh... cant wait to see where this will go.

If I am going to a 'corner' I first want to know WHY we are going. And then if it is for the music, I will want to know who is playing.

if it is just to hang out, I wanna know what there is to do there.

and if it is to people watch, I wanna know what kind of people.

BUT YOU DIDN'T SAY THE NAME OF THE PLACE!! OMG!! JUST LIKE WHEN THE TOPIC WAS MS-13 BUT PRESIDENT TRUMP DIDN'T REPEAT IT .. YOU FAILED TO SAY FIRST AVE .. HOW COULD YOU??

Do you even slightly grasp how ridiculous you look to the rest of us in the sane world now? People (and yes, I said people) understand the context of the discussion so President Trump did not need to repeat it. How ignorant are you? Or is it intentional?

You're too busy projecting to realize you speak in that exact same manner, you didn't repeat the name of the venue in your reply .. how dare you!! LOL

define sane, sounds like much ado about nothing to me.

there was a simple question asked DIRECTLY about the corner. There was NO specific question asked to trump about MS13. There was a long thank you session griping about past policy and sharing resources MOSTLY with a brief mention in there of an example of an MS13 member.

different contexts completely.

I am not ignorant my friend, which is maybe why I am not resorting to name calling?

I didnt have to repeat the name of a DIRECT question that ONLY Mentioned one place. If you had provided a PARAGRAPH of examples where the corner was only one thing you mentioned, it might be a different story.

'

I am aware of what ignorant means, ignorant people often resort to name calling when they cannot argue logically, they are IGNORANT about logical discourse.

I doubt he has much of ANY experience with or around anyone other than the financial elite to even have a REAL belief or knowledge about any demographic except other rich white males.

you hear a true statement and call racism?

What's the definition of a criminal?

now who is splitting hairs? In relevance to the quote being described, the criminals in question are RAPISTS and MURDERERS.

in general anyone who commits an action punishable by law, like fudging on resumes, or speeding over the limit. or crossing without the crosswalk, or running a stop sign or red light, or fudging on tax forms ... etcetera, etcetera

.. there are far more criminals than are recorded, if we go by the general definition. So we generally only discuss those actually PROSECUTED for a crime in some way.

I'm always amazed at how so many have been deceived by the media thinking Trump is a racist.

what a ridiculous comment. the media hasn't deceived me in any way, shape, or form about trump's racism.

TRUMP himself has made me believe he's a racist.
and, he regularly confirms that belief by his own words and actions.

the only part the media has played is giving trump the airtime he so craves to make it easy to see, and to determine for myself.

Ok, explain to me what President Trump has said that was racist. Keep in mind I've heard every claim and debunked them all. I live in a 90% black neighborhood and the apartment building I live in is now filled with Trump supporters after having some simple discussions and watching a few videos to see what was really said, and they all finally realized it was the reporters saying things, not President Trump, the media has been twisting things so much it is ridiculous. I wasn't even a Trump supporter in the election, but the lies by the media have turned me into one. I detest lies, which is also why I was never a Hillary supporter, her first claim to fame was being fired from Watergate for lying under oath and unethical behavior, which she has followed up with a laundry list of lies and corruption. Now with all of this Trump Derangement Syndrome going around, people just can't handle that he won the election, and it's pretty pathetic to watch people melting down just because they didn't get their way.

i went to school in the south.
i've lived the vast majority of my life in the south.

i neither need nor require trump apologists schooling me on racism, nor when to believe my "lyin' eyes'.

Then you are 100% correct because your eyes are lying to you. You only posted opinion as a response, and while everyone is entitled to their opinion they are NOT entitled to their own facts.

Fact #1, the unemployment rate for black people in the US is the lowest in recorded history. Contrast that to being at one of the highest points under Obama.

Fact #2, you haven't been keeping up with current events, do you know why Democrats had to hijack the Black Lives Matter group? Simple, because the Black Panther party turned on them after realizing they were being used and manipulated by Democrats for decades while saying give Trump a chance after listening to him, read the link if you have guts.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/justinholcomb/2016/08/29/new-black-panther-leader-we-are-being-pimped-by-democrats-n2211405

Fact #3, more current events as Rasmussen Report show polls up from 19% of black people in the US supporting Trump to 36% on August 5th, 2018 (just 5 days ago). Keep in mind that Rasmussen Report is a liberal Democrat source and they poll primarily in Democratic areas which means nationally Trump's numbers are better when reality is factored in.

https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/08/15/poll-donald-trumps-black-approval-rating-almost-double-that-of-last-year/

Fact #4, after more than 30 years in the public eye, Donald Trump was never called a racist until he ran for President. The allegations arose after WikiLeaks published John Podesta's emails which show Hillary and other Democrats saying racist things about black people and Hispanics, so they needed the media (which they pay to lie as proven in the book Clinton Cash with 85 of the biggest names in the news on their payroll) to spin it and claim Trump was racist to cover up her racism. Keep in mind Podesta admitted those were in fact his real emails that were published.

I have more, but if that doesn't start to open your eyes, then nothing will and that would be on you.
don't waste your time, Democrats care nothing for facts, they only hear MSNBC and other Democrats...

FACT: your assertions in this post are not based in FACT.

( but DO appear to be your own partisan assessment.)

FACT: you have no knowledge of the scope of sources i consult to form my opinions and understanding of any matters, let alone those we discuss here. you are merely guessing and projecting.

these facts as i have laid them out indeed are FACTS, and they are INDISPUTABLE.

none of those are actually facts...but then again, most Democrats can't /won't understand the actual meaning if the word "fact"... Maybe after you go to the dictionary site, try some reading comprehension sites as well, since I said none of these things you're claiming here...

Liberals are 100% against free speech and open mindedness, just like the Nazis were back in the 1940s.
