I see the lack of harmony (and common sense) has killed off this discussion. I had hoped to get a response about the THIRD view point on the slavery discussion. The simple fact remains that if there was not a third point of view then slavery would not have ended. It is only Democrats who think in only the absolute terms of slave or slave master, they can't comprehend the third view which started a war to end it. It is so ingrained into their thought process they keep trying to bring it back, they just want to be the master rather than people simply living in freedom together. It is very sad to see how brainwashed some people are in this world and can not think for themselves.

slave, slavemaster, and abolitionists are all part of our history

even the gravest crimes against humanity have had people which fought against it as part of the equation

it still does not necessarily rise to people thinking those areas of the world as 'great' just because there exists a mindset which also fights to end those crimes



'great' is based in the personal and subjective, and there is no time when there was not some demographic here (or elsewhere) whose lives were not made so 'great' by policy, law, and infrastructure.
