Who gives a boy 8 a motorized bike to ride in high traffic area!!

If someone hits him, I'm, sure the parent will probably complain!

Some parents are not too smart and some do not know how to say no.. I can't tell you how many times a high school kid has been killed speeding in a car here. A sports cars their parents brought for the... 18 years old and they driving a Mustang

That's sad some parents are not responsible enough to say No at times!

Sometimes small children are from single parent homes, No dad around.
Children grow up like that, the last 3 decades.

In some places by age 8 the boy would have already had his first gun for three years, so why not give him a motor bike as well?

I wouldn't do that though. My boy is almost a year old, so I'm not quite sure yet how he's going to turn out, but I do know he sure as hell isn't going to be out on the street on a motor bike before he's 18. I'll still kick his *** for making such a dumb decision too.

There's too many people trying to kill you on four wheels, no need to make it easy for them.

Humm it all depends how you raise your kids...

My grandson is 7 he has a kids 4 wheeler, can drive the ATV & got a 22 for Christmas that he knows how to shoot... My son has made sure he was taught the right way to use those things for my son had them as well...

I was a single mom as well...my son learned the correct way to use those things and we rode 4 wheeler's together him on one and me on the other...

Do they get hurt at times sure they do heck they can get hurt riding a regular bicycle or walking out the door..

I'm all for teaching kids the right way to use any type of motorized vehicles.

Heck my son was riding horses on his on at 3 1/2 we made all the team penning and roping events by the time he was 12 was riding bulls..

At 12 he could drive my truck in the pasture and hook up the horse trailer... then helped me load the horses...

So saying it is a single parents home problem is far from the issue... it all depends how one teaches their kids to use things the correct way ... But even then at times it is a learning curve..

I agree, i beeh shooting, riding dirt bikes and horses since I was about 5...at 13, I was breaking colts in for other people...those were fun days

The child I seen was riding in high traffic area and it is irresponsible of the parent to let him. Several cars had to dodge him at times, I think he lives a street over! He looks 8 maybe he is older, but. Still a Child .

Yes, it does depend on how you raise a child.

I f a parent has property wide open fields, where it is safe to ride, that's More responsible parenting.

The same parents who teach their kids it's ok to run from the police with a gun in their hand.

Hell, I could get hit walking the dog..

Is that really any different than giving an 8 year old a non motorized bike to ride in a high traffic area?

What's the complaint?
Kids living near high traffic areas?
Kids having access to high traffic areas?
Kids having access to motorized transportation?
Kids having access to any transportation?
Kids not being put in a pillowed cage until they're 18 or so?


And I'll bet a lot of the blame will fall on the driver.

Maybe he just took off while his parents weren't home.
I know my sister used to sneak out of the house and sometimes take our moms car out before she got her license.
I know some high school kids that drank alcohol and smoked too.
I went to high school with a bunch of kids that bought motorcycles despite their parents protests. One weekend a bunch were riding and the 25 year old "adult" brother ran his motorcycle into the side of a van and died.

Kids do stupid crap and make bad decisions and it's not necessarily the fault or responsibility of the parents.
Kids hide crap from their parents and lie too, and that's not just because of "bad parenting."
Or is this one of those "well, I'd teach my kids to be perfect angels, and any kid that isn't perfect it must be the fault and responsibility of the parent...even though I say no one is perfect and people make mistakes, any that a kid makes, well, it's because of the parents."


I've had to dodge several heroin/drug users on bikes around here.
They were adults, or kids with very heavy addictions they looked so bad.


Only up to a point.
Kids aren't simply extensions of their parents doing only what they're told and following the exact and specific rules until they reach 18 and magically grow a personality, conscience, and decision making ability.


So are you advocating for the tethering of children via leash or harness to the adults property, maybe until they reach 18?

...I think I'd sign that petition. It would make my life far more entertaining.
And there'd be far less shoplifting in my local stores.

No but he may be hit, because his parent allowed him to ride in high traffic area.
