Topic: Who Pays the Babysitter for Dating? | |

Just wondering--nowadays who usually pays the single parent's babysitter when you go on a date? Do you pay or do you think it's the parent's responsibility?

Whoever owns the poop monkey.

If the mom doesn't make much, chooses her own babysitter, and the guy has no contact with them, I would think helping her with paying the sitter would be fine.

Just wondering--nowadays who usually pays the single parent's babysitter when you go on a date? Do you pay or do you think it's the parent's responsibility? Holy cow, Mike! You cannot just be wondering about this out of the blue. haha so you are dating a single parent? Offer to pay for the babysitter if need be. Usually the parents' responsibility. But what da heck! Yay! |

If the single parent can't afford a sitter and ask for help, you have a choice, either pay or move on to someone else.

Just wondering--nowadays who usually pays the single parent's babysitter when you go on a date? Do you pay or do you think it's the parent's responsibility? In my opinion if you invite a lady out you pay the costs affiliated with that gesture, she is your guest. including the babysitter cost. unless of course she does not prefer that. |

I would always want to pay that cost. That is of course unless the girl said no. After all, the girl is always right.

Who Pays the Babysitter for Dating?
For the most part, the one with the kids needing to be sat on. After a relationship is established I would think it should be the one that had the idea to have the date on that particular day at that time. If I just met a woman that has kids, if we agree on a date, its something we agree on together. After I know her situation and want to do a date, if it involves a sitter being needed and the event is beyon our flexibility, then, to make the date, I would pay for the sitter. But... if every single date requires me to pay for a sitter, that's gunna get real old right quick. |

whoa. A parent of a child should find, and pay for their babysitter. If I date someone, they have nothing to do with that. They may not even meet the babysitter or the child. This actually they won't meet either but that's my opinion |

Well the parent of the kid pays... that is part of their cost to date.
Me being me, I would offer to help pay for some (key being some) of the cost for the babysitter but if they asked me to pay it all, that’s the last date they get from me and no i’m not paying... |

She does unless she's dating the kid's dad !

Truthfully i dont see that its a big deal.. if im going on a 1st date with a women who has children/ or a 1 kid...
She can take them before hand and i wouldnt mind paying the cost of it just handing over the money to her during the date before we part for the night. After a few dates if things go normal and are compatible together , maybe we could plan a day out with her family to a waterpark , amusement park or whatever.. if your willing to date a women with kids there are costs to it.. i believe these things will go a long way in a possible relationship |

Yay! Yes Rosie, it's an out-of-the-blue question I thought about today, but was wondering who pays. No, I'm not dating someone who has children. My girlfriend never had kids (yay!). And my marital status has always been "Single With Vasectomy". The vas was at age 23 and I've never regretted it. The decision was best for myself. |

Just wondering--nowadays who usually pays the single parent's babysitter when you go on a date? Do you pay or do you think it's the parent's responsibility? I did not know there was even any question. Whoever is asking the babysitter to babysit, pays the babysitter. |

I don't have kids but i assume the parent would handle the details.
We have a humongous family with lots of cousins. A lot of times when someone goes out their kid just thinks its a fun sleepover with the cousins. |

"Usually?" It's "usually" the parent of the kid. Otherwise IMO kinda depends on what date we're talking about. 1st date? 230th date and you've started spending the night/staying over or have been for a while? IME there isn't a magic absolute demarcation between "relationship and intermingled financial responsibility" and "just dating." Are both of us single parents and my kid babysits their kid? Did I come up with a special date, like there's a one of a kind event that I want to take them to, so I called the babysitter to come over, and surprised my "date" last minute? Did I get my date drunk, or tire her out, and have to take the babysitter home? Is the person I'm dating the kind that would pay me back and we do things like that for each other all the time? Like she picked up my dry cleaning because it's right next to where she works, and I paid the babysitter because I had the cash on me, because my date paid for the dry cleaning and burritos with her cash? Is my date expecting me to pay the babysitter just because they expect men to pay for them? Other than that, many times I've been on a 1st, 2nd, 10th date with someone and didn't even know they had a kid, so didn't know they had a babysitter. I know it would annoy me if my date said to me at the restaurant "by the way, I have a kid, can I get a $50 for the babysitter when I go home after this?" |

fyi... sitters can get anywhere from $10.00 to $20.00 an hour depending on the child/children and length of time. I am a Professional Nanny.
Although it is the Parent's responsibility, it is a nice gesture to offer to help. |
