trump's tariffs have now started hurting the country, and even the people who supported him,and are leaving the taxpayers to pick up the tab for his incredibly stupid actions.
since against ALL of his advisors advice, trump unilaterally decided to impose trade tariffs against the countries that USED TO BE our allies, and plunge our country into a trade war with them, the price of LOTS of the stuff that we use on an everyday basis have increased exponentially, while the items that we have been selling to other countries have not been selling nearly as well as they used to. new cars are not costing us THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS MORE to buy!! washers and dryers are now costing us HUNDREDS of dollars more to buy! even COKES are now costing us MORE money to buy, since trump decided to start a trade war with he rest of the world. the profits for other goods that we have formerly been selling on the world market have also been bringing SIGNIFICANTLY LESS,as well! soybeans, which HAD BEEN bringing an all time high before trumps tariffs went into effect have plunged from $10 per bushel all the way down to BELOW $8 per bushel...over a 20% drop in the profits that our farmers HAD BEEN making off of their crops. as a result of this enormous loss, the dept of agriculture dusted off a depression era rule, and had to give the farmers a $12 BILLION dollar band aid,to help offset the farmers losses, which the American taxpayers are going to have to pay for,NOT TO MENTION the fact that all of those farmers who are losing such a huge part of their income will ALSO not be paying taxes to the government on that income that they are no longer making, which will mean that THE REST OF US are going to have to make up THAT money as well in our own taxes, while our own infrastructure crumbles down around us. so,not only did Donald trump break his promises to all of he farmers who he SWORE to that he was going to support, and make their lives so much better in order to convince them to give him their vote,he is also trying to plunge our economy into another recession, just so he can try to distract people from the fact that Robert Mueller is closing the noose around his neck, and he is continuously making a fool out of himself every time he turns around, and can try to pretend that he is not the buffoon that the rest of the world sees him as. [and sees US as,for actually electing him as 'president'!!!] |

He's bribing the farmers with the farmers own money
the 12 billion is just to tide them over until after the mid terms...some farmers are not buying into it, they don't like it, and see it for what it is... An attempt to buy their loyalty and their votes... I am amazed that people will vote for those whos policies are against they're own best interests... |

Just like what when we had to bail out the banks..that's it we were bribing them as well ..right..So you all figure it's good to be charged 25% in tariffs while charging only 2 to 3% ..how does anyone even think that is a winning proposition ..talk about giving away money..How large is that budget deficit now..The problem is people don't even give things a chance to see how they will work..you automatically speculate.. |

I don't mind paying my share of taxes to help the country...it even helps the whinny liberals...

As opposed to what ..continually giving away the people's hard earned money in the form of tariffs..you know you all keep talking about all these countries being our allies..well what kind of true loyal ally would be charging us such an exorbitant tariff on our goods while we charge them next to nothing..hardly seems like an ally to me..as if we should have all our friends taking advantage of us ..simply because we don't do anything about it..we shouldn't have had to if they weren't taken advantage of us,so now that we do we're the bad guys..Well I'll tell you all what friends ..you give me 25 dollars continuously and I'll give you a dollar in return contiuously ..that's fair now isn't it...So who wants to join my North America Free Tombs Agreement... |

Same ol' same old... Tax money for farmers ---> GOOD Tax money for women with dependent children ---> BAD Tax money money for farmer is called taking care of our own against other countries. Tax money shouldn't be going to women and children. That's what dad is for. It's time women stop having all these illegitimate kids and expecting a handout. Trump is brining back jobs. It will give these women something to do beside get pregnant again. |

There is going to be some pain fixing the bad trade deals the past presidents made. Trump is trying to easy that pain.
It's like a credit card. It was fun charging on it but it will be painful paying off the debit. But in the end it's a good thing. It's hard for people who are dependent upon the govt to understand balancing a budget. |

I'm glad for the farmer's sake that Trump decided to get relief for SOME of them, from the fall out from the tariff battles. I haven't seen a clear report yet from ANY mass media site, that clearly explains how something called the Commodity CREDIT Corporation is going to flat out GIVE money to people, but my complaint there is with the typical empty-headedness of pretty much all journalists (regardless of bias).
Anyway. This particular mess is just a small part of the very big, and far more complicated system of interacting financial elements, which is vaguely referred to as a national and or international economic system. The entirety of it all is such, that the only thing anyone can be accurately sure of, is that changes made to any part of it WILL have effects across the entirety of it all, AND, any overall positive or negative judgment that can be made about those changes, will take a VERY long time to be clear. In the short term, a tariff battle is very disruptive, and causes problems throughout each nations' economies, often in ways that aren't immediately apparent, because very few people are aware of just how interlocked all of our industries are. In the long term, even if Trump's supposed goals are achieved (the end of tariffs on both sides), disruptions wont STOP, they will just be shifted elsewhere. The reason why many people are opposed to all government supports to industries (including tariffs and import taxes and fees and so on), is because businesses are much easier to manage, regardless of costs, when those costs are STABLE. The thing is, though, that some government supports are specifically put in place to CREATE stability, and taking them ALL away, will actually make the overall prices of goods and services go up, because the businesses will have to charge enough extra all the time, to make themselves able to weather fluctuating costs. I frankly don't know whether Trump's approach is going to work as planned or not. If it does, I'll be applauding along with most other people. If it doesn't, I'll be suffering along with everyone else. The only thing I'm sure of so far, is that whatever happens is NOT going to be all good or all bad. |
