NAFTA
That was the biggest mistake made and it ran for along time. Now is being addressed. I will not be pretty, it will hurt some, but it had to be done. 75 % of cargo containers going to China from the U.S. are... empty. They are going back to China to be put back in the rotation. The steamship companies would get big money per container coming here and take anything they could leaving here because of the competition to fill ships and reduce their empties. |

Your problems are not with your Northern or Southern neighbors trade wise there are 500 Billion reasons you should be looking at China |

Your problems are not with your Northern or Southern neighbors trade wise there are 500 Billion reasons you should be looking at China I agree with that, they are not to the north and south. They are with China. I am glad it is finally being address, but yes, I would have done it differently and been more selective.. much more you don't hurt your friends and they don't hurt you. Especially the Canadians.. they have been good friends for a very long time. Frankly, I would have zeroed in exclusively on China, I only assume that couldn't do it that way. |

Here's the thing,
Technology, you have nothing on us, nothing. We have cheap Aluminium and steel because our energy costs are very low (hydro) the cars made here are made with US parts. Yes we have supply management over dairy products, even our dairy producers are asking for it to be lifted, to be honest, your Wisconsin dairy farmers produce more milk than all of Canada put together. They would not be able to compete with us on cost. Dairy industry up here is begging for production caps to be lifted, begging. The intended reasons for supply management is to have stability in the industry, not corner the market. We'll see what comes of it but ya'll will be cryin for your mamas if we pull the plug... and it'll all be over but the crying for us too. It's a no win |

Is seems that trash is a world problem, not just Chinese, or Russian or whichever one of our so called enimies gets the blame...that "trash" that's being shipped to China isn't trash, but recyclables encased in plastics.. the Pacific trash vortex, 2 areas in the ocean that encompasses over 7.5 million square miles (20 million SK) of floating plastics and other crap, just got a lot bigger after the tsunami in Japan... Who's problem is that?

I miss the good ol' days.
When everyone could still ship their trash to New Jersey. |

If you want concern over pollution though, there's not much recent history of any Republican showing positive interest. They've cheered wildly at every elimination of pollution limits and treaties and concerns. ___________________________________________________________________ Now, now, lets be fair. I was back and forth over there thru most of the Obama administration and the plastics were burning around the clock. American plastic. So the Dems didn't do anything either yes, they screamed to the Chinese about the pollution and hole in the ozone layer all while the freight containers laden with toxic plastics continued to arrive. Out of sight.. out of mind Global Warming is a myth..... We just had one of the worst winters in decades. |
