I'm amazed how a couple of you refuse to admit the kid was a thug. He had already chosen a life of crime. If the police hasn't killed him, how do you think his life would have turned out? He would have ended up dead or in prison anyway. This way he commits less crimes before it happens.
Sounds like the kid had plenty of opportunities but was a lazy pos.
Some of you seem to identify with the kid. How did it turn out? Dead or in jail?

sounds like more bigotry and stereotyping ....

the one time people have the MOST potential to turn around is during their youth

a kid is a kid, and does not deserve to be shot in the back when running in fear.

It's not like he was caught skipping school to go to the mall. My son signed up for the military at 17. He was being taught to kill people but in a way that defends his country. That thug had already turned into who he was going to be.

I watched a movie a while back where a man was trying to help these kids. It was based on a true story. At the end it listed how the kids ended up. Almost all of them ended up dead or in prison.

It's not about opportunity. It's basically most are lazy and want to make easy money. Shooting up the place makes them feel cool like on the videos. It's their personality. Which doesn't change.

and until cops or you carry crystal balls to see any ONE kid's future, its not for anyone to determine their life should be expendable.

The cop wasn't going by his future. He was judging him by the crime he had just commited

hmm, so association with a criminal is enough crime for a 17 year old to be executed now?

wow, just wow ....

It's not like they were hanging out after the crime was committed. He was committing the crime with them. You might want to consider that if one of your friends ask you to ride along while they rob a bank.

How do you know WHAT They were doing? And how would the cop who showed up?

All still weak excuses for shooting a scared kid in the back.

The back glass was shot out and they already found the guns. It's time you give up the bs. When they pick a jury it won't be made up of criminals and gang members. The evidence will be presented instead of what picture he drew in 1st grade or what good works he would have done if mom's car hadn't been in the shop.

maybe it does maybe it doesnt, maybe it makes him a future criminal, maybe it makes him a scared kid

now, we will never know.

and

yes, you get CHARGED, not shot in the back trying to run.

If Im dumb enough to run because someone was shot then Im taking my chances.

He should have picked better friends, perhaps someone from the geek society, he might have lived longer.

if we are going to keep justifying shooting a kid in the back based on their level of 'innocence' or potential for future crime, we can just go to the inner cities and gun down families right now. Being a kid that is WITH someone, even someone who has committed a crime, should not be a death sentencw, neither should living where there is high crime, because lets face it

in some areas, there are gonna be kids who are hanging around out of fear or protection or being related with those who are 'criminal', and the mentality of they are therefore not 'innocent' or doomed to be criminals gives people free will to commit genocide on whole populations of underserved, and gives those kids even less chance to ever TRY to turn their life around ,,, because they are stamped expendable before they even get their shot...

now you are the one making excuses and justifying it, here is a fact, there are many people living in those areas who are law abiding, and avoids trouble at all costs.

many kids through sports, music, computers etc, not everyone has ties to gangbangers or wants to have ties with those people.

I dont promote being a 'thug' but I also dont promote this terrible philosophy that guilt by association should be grounds for execution in the streets.

I dont either, but when a gun is involved one is taking a chance and putting their lives in other peoples hand.

it assumes a scared teen in that environment feels they have a 'choice' of who to be 'friends' with ... or even that they are 'friends' at all merely because they are together.

then he is weak individual , we all make choices in life, and if what you say is true then you've proven what most Right wingers believe along

We are not equal or born with equal abilities.

There are many in those communities that knows the difference between associating with certain types of people can bring you.

Sure it may bring respect out of fear, but think about it he was in a car with a guy who cut off his ankle bracelet , you cannot tell me that this 17 year old kid didn't know about that ?

Its funny that some of you leftists with your cognitive dissidence,oh he was just a kid at 17, but when it comes to other things he is old enough to understand like driving, dating and making their choices.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

seriously Miss Harmony, am I speaking in tongues? Swahili, Canadian French, pig Latin?

Just like your comrade friend Sergei Yuschevich viperrovski, pointed out earlier about white kids stealing candy from the story or something like it a silly analogy .

When a person (regardless of race or age) was involved in a shooting, cops takes no chance, its unfortunate that the kid died from being shot from the cops but the bottom line and you have to look at the entire picture the kid wasn't running because he stole Candy bars or pop from the store.

I don't think he would have miraculously done a 180 on his 18th bday and became a law abiding citizen. I can tell some of you have made a career of making an excuse for thugs. It must be hard seeing a son, brother, dad go to prison or end up dead. But the reality is they are criminals and a danger to society
