Topic: The motivation for hiding or running | |
---|---|
Often people say that only guilty people run, or only people that know they did wrong hide things.
Do you think that's truly accurate? I feel that choices are not always black and white, and often people act or react based upon perceived reactions, right or wrong, regardless if they believe they are wrong or not. for instance, if the mob thought someone had killed someone in the family, because of the knowledge of what consequences come to those they THINK are guilty, that person may be wise to run or hide, to avoid those consequences, NOT because they actually did it. sometimes it just doesnt matter nearly as much whether one is guilty or innocent, just what others think about whether they are and what the potential consequence from those others might be. Just a thought. |

Perception versus reality.
Both might be equally scary. |

I hide/run from potential dates. So than what am am I guilty of?

I don't think it is guilt.
I think FEAR makes people run. Many of our actions are based on fear, whether rational or irrational. |

^^^that makes sense

You run when the situation is out of your control and you fear the consequences. You hide when you may not think you have done anything wrong but the consequences of others judgement is a problem to you.

'Happy' is a temporary flesh centered perception.

Running/hiding is an action .. it can be evasive.., tactical..... pleasurable even . There are many catalysts and contexts but generally it is associated with something we perceive as a threat .... real and imagined .
Men run and hide from me all the time but often their resistance is weak |

I don't think it is guilt. I think FEAR makes people run. Many of our actions are based on fear, whether rational or irrational. I think this is your answer op, in your example the person running isn't running from guilt they're running cause they're afraid of getting whacked, and guilty people don't run cause they're guilty they run cause they're afraid of getting caught. |

When I sit here and think about it, I don't think I've ever run from anything in my life. In my 56 years, I've done some things. Nothing really bad. Maybe a little stupid. I've made some bad decisions too. I've done some azz kicking. And I've had my azz kicked. But, I've never done anything that I felt like I had to run or hide.
If I'm understanding you correctly, To me it comes down to the decisions a person makes. It boils down to responsibility. Responsibility for one's self. You don't have to run or hide when you take responsibility. Then again, you can look at it another way. There are a lot of nutty people out there. The kind of people that can throw a gun in your face for no real reason. I've never had to deal with that. But if I did, given the chance, I think I would run and hide. I've seen situations in my life where someone got knifed or shot, had the living daylights beat out of them, even killed. Just because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. They made a decision to go to a place where they knew they could get hurt. That's why I think it boils down to responsibility and the decisions one makes. |

I hide/run from potential dates. So than what am am I guilty of? That doesn't sound like the guilt of anything. It sounds more like fear. Fear of the unknown. Sometimes a person feels like they have taken enough crap off of other people. It works the same for both men and women. Sometimes you just get tired of dealing with the opposite sex. Like me for example. Sometimes I think my picker is broken. Or I just wasn't born with one. I've picked some doozies. I caught myself a few times running and hiding from women that showed interest in me. You get it up in your mind that this one is going to be like the 10 before it. So, to keep from having to deal with it again, run and hide. There have been times that I've thought about finding a cave and be a hermit the rest of my life. I finally decided I may not ever find the right one. But, I'm not going to run and hide or be a hermit. You only get one life. Take what you find, or what finds you, and be happy with yourself. |

I think you gotta make a distinction between being guilty and feeling guilty.
Not the same thing. You can be guilty of a committing a crime but not feel guilty at all. You'd run because it's the smartest thing to do You can feel guilty and not be guilty of anything. More of an ego thing, not feeling good enough etc. Others both are guilty and feel guilty. Some will then fight/argue/resist, others will leave the situation so they don't have to face the music. I suppose, depending on context, people run because they're afraid, or simply smart -like after committing a crime. |

If you are with, or arbitrarily grouped with, or just passing by when something goes down and the law rolls up, it's best not to be around regardless of anything else.
Their beat / shoot / teargas first ask questions later M O is exactly to be run from. Even if you are obviously an injured victim, you are at risk. I hide things in fun. Going motorbiking after a long journey on the trailer, I hid my mate's motorbike keys - he thought he left them home; much gnashing of teeth and wrenching of hair (and me secretly laughing) before I eased his pain. Hide the remote; hide the dog's ball; hide the sausage - all innocent. |

I have found out whom my true friends are in times like this.
Everything points to me...but im not guilty. And because it angers me to be accused, im told that is only because I am guilty, or I would not care. NOT TRUE! The people who stood behind me, no matter what the circumstances were, are my true friends. People that know what you are, and are not, capable of, and stand by that distinction. I think that unless your holding a smoking gun over the body, AND CONFESS, you should be given at least the "shadow of a doubt". Someone so quick to accuse you, is probably the guilty party. Someone who defends you, is your real friend. |
