Well in the first place I don't date long distance so the chances of me finding somebody that would be that special person in the first place ....probably wouldn't happen.... unless I was on some exotic holiday and just happened to fall in love with somebody over 2 weeks which I highly doubt would happen... but then again you never know.... and if that was the case and I was absolutely in love with them even though I have only known them for two weeks.... sure!!.. why not pick up my life here and move it all the way across the planet.... but then again that does seem like a lot of hassle... just to spend time with another human being....hmmmm.... maybe I can find someone closer to home to fall in love with..Yup...lol

But as for me, No, I wouldn't. I've done the long distance thing twice. I learned the hard way. It's not worth it. Now, it's all I can do to talk myself into going 50 miles away from home. Either way, you cut it, you are going to meet a stranger. You can talk to someone over the net for weeks. Or even months and they are still a stranger until you meet them.

They say that "A picture is worth a thousand words". It's not true on the internet. For the most part, a picture is an image of what that person wants other's to see. It doesn't show what you really look like day to day. So, on the internet pictures can lie. And many in person don't look like their pictures.

A profile is how you see yourself. Or what your friends or family tell you. Not how others outside that circle will see you. So, you can write out a profile that makes you sound great. When in reality, you may be a total azz. But, that isn't how you see yourself. So, pictures can lie and profiles don't always tell the truth. That's why I choose to keep my online dating close to home. That way I'm not wasting a lot of gas, time or money on someone that isn't what they seem to be. Which is the way it is on the internet about 95% of the time.

A lot must depend on personal circumstances, the distance, and whether they live in or outside your own country. I would certainly combine a visit to see someone with a holiday if they lived too far away for a day visit, I enjoy travel, but relocating is a big issue. If after spending sometime together, maybe after a number of visits, and I thought the person was right for me in the long term, and if I found myself falling in love, then I would relocate if that was required to be with them.
