Not really. I have always been classified as poor but no problem paying taxes Yes poor but worked. Taxes came from that. Again, not poor enough to pay NO taxes. |

The people paying NO taxes don't have to worry about this topic then Btw just because I had to pay taxes, doesn't mean I wasn't poor. |

What if you never had to pay any taxes again, ever? No taxes, none, zip, zilch, nada ... not one penny. Then how would things get paid for? Schools, roads, etc
Private ownership. Without taxes there would be no government. Think of the impact of that for a second... |

Private ownership. Without taxes there would be no government. Think of the impact of that for a second... I think if everything were owned privately that would leave only and mostly the top earners in charge of everyone else, and free to use them for their own profits more widely than they already do. |

You are absolutely right. they are called the " working poor". and they do pay taxes.. and they are poor. Ask a single Mom who is working at McDonald's just trying to put a roof over her kids head if she pays taxes. She does. |

I believe what is considered paying taxes is owing the government taxes. I do not believe it is counted as paying taxes if one then gets those taxes back. I believe that is the distinction people are often making when speaking about those too poor to pay taxes.
Come tax time, the IRS has a formula for what you SHOULD have paid and it gives you credits for certain things like keeping employment or having children which often times makes the math come up that the person who paid will get what they paid back. |

That might fly with federal tax, but federal tax is not the only tax many people pay. They also pay state and in many cases city tax. And I know for a fact, when I was just starting out and making minimum wage in NYC, I got ... nothing... back from the taxes I paid into N.Y state and NYC tax... nothing And while I did usually receive a refund from the feds, it was never the amount that I paid them. ( not including social security and unemployment insurance) I believe if a person is making less then a certain amount, they should pay nothing in taxes.. nothing.. why.. because they can't afford it, and many times they have mouths for feed.. now.. not the following spring... when some sort of watered down refund comes. |

Ask a single Mom who is working at McDonald's just trying to put a roof over her kids head if she pays taxes. She does. Hummm hate to put a kink into that logic~~~ But..........I was one of those single moms that raised two kids on a waitress salary~~~ At the end of the year I normally made under the $12-$14,000 a year therefore all the taxes I had paid in I got back at the end of the year.. And for having 2 kids to boot I got the Child Tax Credit which back then was around $3,000 or more they give you for having kids at the end of the year.. So I normally got from $4,000 - $6,000 back at the end of the year.. So when it all washed out I got everything I paid in back in taxes plus more.. I was getting half of my salary back at the end of the year due to tax credits and making below what it takes to make a living.. Only taxes I paid was when I bought stuff.. But yea there are those that at the end of the year they not only get all the taxes they paid in back. Plus a extra $5,000 or more if they have kids. Only reason I get taxes back at the end of the year now is cause I pay extra in so I have it at the end of the year to pay my house taxes... |

I was one that barely scraped by and didn't get extra $5000 back. What I did pay in wasn't much to begin with. Plus many states have state taxes as well as federal. It by no means make them rich or even middle class. I eas poor |

What if you never had to pay any taxes again, ever? Private ownership could leave out the poor from schools, etc if they can't pay. Someone has to pay for these things |

I was under the poverty level as well.. Can't say I was poor had more then many did..
I pay more taxes now single at my age then I did back then and still on a limited income... But I do see where we need to have taxes just seems where those taxes are actually going needs to be looked at... Like School Taxes I don't see why I still have to pay them and have not had kids in school for 15 years now... Think after so many years that they should take those off once you don't have kids in school.. |

I never got that deal, it would have been nice. Tx is one of 6 states that have no income tax and a lot of other states have city tax thrown in as well. That's were people get killed in taxes. its regional, mostly in urban areas. |

no taxes, no government services...
like, no armed forces, no police forces, no court system and no protection from having your civil rights violated at any given moment...it would resort to utter chaos with no recourse for those too weak to defend themselves against organized violence.. |
