To start, I only heard of the term ghosting about a year ago. I took it to mean when two people on the internet are talking often and appear to like each other, and this goes on for weeks or months, then one person stops. That person comes back again to chat after a long period of time, then does it again.

Not meaning to dispute your word, but this doesn't sound right. Like, I've had different women at different times to be talking to me and they would tell me that they thought I was a good guy. I've had them to tell me that talking to me was like a breath of fresh air because of how other men talked to them. I've had several very good conversation. And when I would finally ask if they would like to meet, POOF, Gone. And never answer another message I sent. But, would still go back and forth to my profile looking. But never speak another word to me. Which is OK. Because by that time they've creeped me out. But still, want to "ghost" my profile. This is the kind of ghosting I thought the thread was about. |

I think ghosting is passive aggressive and lacks courage. I’ve always appreciated it when I’ve been chatting with someone or even after a date and she tells me she doesn’t think we are a good match. I try to do the same rather than leaving people hanging. I was recently breadcrumbed (breadcrumbing is similar to ghosting) by a women who things were going wonderfully with. I am learning to look for earlier warning signs of communication issues and set my boundaries earlier.

I think ghosting is from peeps with damaged ego's.
They invest enough of themselves with their best behavior to get the validation that they are indeed 'awesome' to someone. Once they get it, they have no use for you. abuh byeee. Or They got caught by their s.o. Either way, you are well shot of them. |

i think you folks have ghosting wrong,
my experience of ghosting is when someone takes your name and uses it to talk to someone else you know. |

I often wonder why people do that online. I mean I have meet that is conversation. Like for example. I meet this guy I was talking with and I was in fact enjoying the conversation. They where not promising to date me. It was a basically friendship and then randomly stopped. I was basically wonder what in the world happened.
Why do people do that? |

I have been ghosted on here ... but did not know that term or the others are using for examples...
I say ghosting in here should be when someone is following you ... and you forget you have these followers or who they are ... that seems more like a ghost to me ... |
