I pretty much have to go with the majority here. The few times I have seen discreet, it has been in the context of an affair. There may be other reasons where it might be used, but as of now, I have not seen them.

It's probably someone already in a relationship. I have another theory. I want to have a sexual relationship but all the women are beneath my standards. Whenever I read a description of someone looking for a person who can be 'discreet', for some reason, my mind automatically jumps to the conclusion that the person is a cheater looking for someone to cheat with.
I am sure the request could also mean they simply want someone modest, maybe they are famous and do not want it known they are dating anyone in particular,,,but what are the odds on a social site of someone who is famous? do you think the same when you read someone looking for a 'discreet' relationship/arrangement? |

On a dating site or singles posting "Discreet' means affair. There are times in real life dating and relationships where discretion happens on purpose. Discreet adjective ~ careful and circumspect in one's speech or actions, especially in order to avoid causing offense or to gain an advantage. ~ intentionally unobtrusive. Discretion noun ~ the quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information. ~ the freedom to decide what should be done in a particular situation. You don't take your date, lover, friend or spouse everywhere you know because it is inappropriate to the relationship. You don't say or do things that are inappropriate. Even people that tell you they have nothing to hide are discreet about some things. Discretion is not a selling feature for an open relationship. It is a method of preserving distance, keeping at bay. Agreed! |

Yeppers MizHarmony, my mind tends to jump to that conclusion also, unless they put in their proile that they need to be discrete because of their employment or standing in the community ( in which case a little voice in my head still says oh sure sounds like BS). Ima own up to it.... I trust no one
